Possible move to performance suv, ml63/cayenne ?
I'm still in the contemplation phase here but I've been tossing around the idea of consolidating to one vehicle instead of my c63 and truck and get a nice performance suv. If I do the ones I'd look at are 2012+ ml63 or cayenne gts/turbo. Might take a while to find a good one in my range, they don't seem to be as prevalent here as the north .
Love my c63 but it's a 2010 showing some age, lots of plastic bits starting to break that's just getting annoying for someone as add about their car as I am
Anyone have experience with these SUVs and how they compare to the c63?
I know it won't be quite as fun to toss around but that ml63 looks like a drag strip beast

Still torn, might just end up with a newer c63 i'm getting tired of the interiors plastic breaking and cracking.
had to replace 1 vent, cupholders broken and the popup screen has a crack on the bezel. sends my ADD in overdrive knowing ive got issues to fix

The ml63 looks pretty good but I never like the look the cayenne...or the panamera. A newer c63 couldn't hurt . Very understandable though about the plastic trim. You could also just completely gut out the current C63 and there ya go, weight saving and no more plastic trim problem lol.

I also ain't dig the look of the cayenne.
Everything feels and looks out of place and once you read up a few common failing systems and part's you automatically move and focus toward's the ML63.
I don't want to be an azz and it's definately not my business but give an G55 class a chance.
These car's are so fugly and edgy that on the other hand are pretty damn hot!
I will get one and I hated it but it grew on me and I can't await the day to plant with it two rubber stripe's into the asphalt.

yeah the more i look at the cayenne the more i think its a little soft looking, that and my area is flooded with them...usually soccer moms and retirees
oddly enough i really dont see many 2012+ ml63s, someone on my block has a 2011 model with the old 6.2 engine but i see more g63s than mls

At the end, at the very end it's your hard earned money and the final decision is on you.
You feel the ML design more then the G's? Go for it man, we are anyhow in a league where it's hard, really hard to di a wrong move and regret.
Because both SUV's got style, are practical, have a hell of a engine and last but not least belong to the star fleet.
I will definaltely get myself an G....as these damn boxes keep my adrenalin high lol

Yeah I don't like'em neither, good to see you are at least not tempting to get dragged away from the dark side lol

I love the look of those G wagons but theyre still priced higher than i'd want to spend for a 2011 when i can get a 2012+ ml for less and be able to take it to the dragstrip if i wish.
It's amazing how much hate those G's get personally I love them.
I made the mistake today of widening my search nationwide and there are waaaaay more 507 series c63s available on the eastcoast for less than the few avail in texas

LOL for the new focus but hey that's what happen's when you're on the hunt.
You get easely distracted by rabbit's and duck's and at the end you drive home with empty hand's loosing all round's on little animal's instead of opting for the big ones as initially focused.
Bro your money, your decision if a C63 is sexy for you, go and get it!!!!
Just do yourself a favour:
Enjoy life and don't get prisoned and quenched by your own thought's!
These car's are here to freaking entertain us not to give us head aches

Go with BOTH, like me :-) ....Ml63 and a C63, granted my ML is a 2007. EC tune wakes that heavy beast up and it's great in so many things you'd never throw your C at (sand, snow, carrying a bunch of people on a long road trip in total comfort). They're great trucks, very comfy, handle better than you think for a truck, and the engine is not quite as loud as the C sounds but still enough to make people realize its not your typical SUV.
Luckily, I haven't had any of the cracking of vents or any of that stuff you've experienced in your 2010 with my 09. That sucks
If you need to consolidate you won't be unhappy with your choice of going to the ML

Maybe you could consider an E63 wagon??? Unless you're specifically only looking at SUVs.
I know it's not a big SUV. But it could be practical enough and at the same time a monster to drive around.

I actually considered that a while back, the wagons are quite difficult to find used. It would solve the cargo space issue and give me a way to haul the dog around but not quite the same capability as a truck or suv for towing and mild off-road use

if 2012 + ml63 is not too expensive go for it.. it looks nice.
I just recently bought a 2010 X5M for my kids . modded it abit... I wasn't a big bmw fan but its a pretty nice SUV overall and it corners extremely well.

hows the quality on the x5m? I've got to admit the 2010-13 x5M is looking quite good for what it offers for the price plus the dinan mods. Right now it seems there just isnt a huge supply of lower mileage 2012+ ml63's in my vicinity for under 70k but several months ago there were plenty. The market really seems to slow down this time of year.

Uuuhm did you made a software engine/ transmission update or suspension or just look's?
Also curious how's the interrior and overall quality impression by you, comparing a Benzo with the X5M.
Thank's!

IMO an SUV doesn't replace a truck. You can't haul large stuff like furniture let alone mulch dirt rock in the back of it, and I just don't see an AMG M or Porsche SUV doing much off road duties. What kind of truck do you have? I'd upgrade either the truck or get an AWD Performance sedan/wagon (E63 RS6/7 BMW 550 or a 2012-2014 E550 4matic). I think the ML weights 1000lbs more than the E so it's not going to be as fast.

from what ive seen these luxury suvs are actually quite capable at mild offroading and perform very well in a drag race, the ml63 actually does extremely well from what
mainly what im trying to do is get down to 1 vehicle and i dont want a car as my only vehicle. if i keep the truck then i'll end up selling the c63 or upgrading it to a newer one with plastic that isnt falling apart.

what about the Macan turbo? I talked to a guy at a car show over the weekend who has one, pretty nice truck. He loves it. He had a cayenne before this and says he likes this better. And they won't cost you 120 like you said. Should give them a look
