Brake Help Please !

Gentlemen, I desperately need your help. I have a 2009 c63 and I've been looking for brakes and pads all day and part of last night. I don't have deep pockets, never have. Money is tight. I buried my 92 year old Mother a week ago this last Sunday and funerals cost. I know not where or what, so I'm asking for your knowledge. I found some Centric rotors and EBC redstuff pads that are within reason, but I don't know anything about Centric quality. Oh, I'm 67 so take it easy on me. The spread I'm getting on prices are crazy, $400 to $1400.

You may reply here or email me at ergon4440@Gmail.com.

Are you sure you need rotors? Have you had them mic'd to see?
I am using Porterfield pads on the rear, haven't needed to change the fronts yet.
I believe someone here as stated that the base C63 rotors are less than 200 each on Rock Auto.com

Shop foreman told me that he thought I could get by with just pads. I don't like the idea about putting new pads on used disc, but as I stated, what do I know?

Given what the foreman said, I'd just change the pads. Since money is tight, as you say, EBC reds are fine. I usually just go with the stock pads. I've been on my rotors for two pad changes, no issues.

OEM rotors are only $150 each. If you have the two piece ones you can change them over to the base ones. Also very possible that you only need pads.

I thought that you could not machine a drilled/slotted rotor - something about the tool could bounce or break when it crosses the holes. Is that not correct?

I would just change the pads. Turn the rotors if they need it but if they do not leave them alone. Sorry to hear about your mother.

I just changed the pads a few week ago with EBC redstuff and the car brakes well and they look pretty cool with the redstuff showing a little.

They can be machined no problem. I did my AMG rear rotors earlier this year as well as Bear setups I have had in the past.

Rotors should be always turned when replacing pads so they can 'bed' properly

Following up on this, I just go the "check brake pad" indicator in the dash. Sure enough, my rears are pretty low. I am due for an oil change in 3 more months so I think I am going to go ahead and get it done. The OEM pads from the dealership are super expensive.

What brakes do you guys recommend? I think I can turn the stock rotors - but might go ahead and just get them replaced too.

Can someone post a link to the place to get rotors and pads (rears) at an affordable cost?

Thanks!
