I run row air boxes and just clean oem filters once a month.

I got the row boxes brand new from parts.com for 133 each and they came with new air flow meters installed.

The trick is to search clk 63 black series and those come up as the correct row boxes.that car in the states had no charcoal filters installed.

I was talking about vs aftermarket filters.it takes less than 5 min to take out the oem stock air filters and bang them together for a min to get the dust out of them

Row boxes people say up to 10whp gain vs stock

http://weistec.com/all/c/c-63/2008-2...56/intake.html

is all you need, don't waste $$ on K&N you'll get MAF issues.

Also Carbino's intake is a waste of $2k..theres 0 gains, at least with ROW boxes you can actually see a 10-20whp increase and the car pops/crackles like no tomorrow

as for cleaning...Wot? Lol..once a month or every 40 miles? you guys are nuts, I've driven 40,000 KM with AFE dry filters and they still look brand new.

Why spend over 500 when you can get those exact row boxes with air flow meters for 270 plus shipping on parts.com

AFE dry is the go.

Thankfully Australia has the ROW intake standard.

Everything I have ever read indicates you pay a lot of money for a carbon fibre intake that looks great but gives a miniscule if any gain over ROW intake.

Sorry if my question is stupid and not trying to high jack the OPs thread but ROW boxes are "rest of the world" air intakes right? So does that mean that every country other than America has ROW boxes stock? I'm curious because I would like to buy AFE dry filters and drop them in. Do ROW boxes look different then the stock intakes? Thanks

US and Canada have the half-circular inlets whereas the ROWs have full circular inlets.

Does that $270 that include filters and new MAF? The $570 for the Weistec boxes comes with both.

I always get confused with this topic. Can someone please explain it to me. I have a US spec P31 car, does that mean that I already have the row airboxes and just need to add better filters? or is the row airbox a whole separate piece from the one that comes with the P31 cars?

From the factory, Mercedes AMG vehicles with the US Spec M156 engine are equipped with charcoal filters installed in the upper halves of the airboxes. To make room for the charcoal filters, the mass air flow sensor housing has a restrictive profile. Non US Spec M156 airboxes, commonly nicknamed ROW Airboxes (Rest of the World) do not contain charcoal filters and are manufactured with a much higher flowing mass air flow sensor housing profile.
Installation is quick and simple as the ROW Airboxes are a direct replacement for the factory US spec airboxes. Upon starting the engine it will be apparent that the engine is breathing more freely as it will have a more aggressive sound note, better throttle response, and improved power band.
Vehicles with a Stage 1 or Stage 2 M156 Supercharger System greatly benefit from the improved flow characteristics of the ROW Airboxes. For Stage 3 systems, the ROW Airboxes are a requirement.
The ROW Airboxes come in a set of two, both left and right sides, and include brand new mass air flow sensors.

This is from Weistec's website

All the row air boxes come with maf sensors installed.I paid 26 dollars for oem filters or you can buy the afe ones on eBay for 100.

I use stock filters but just clean them because they perform fine when new but clog up easily.
