Help with SRS / Steering Wheel Issue
Hi guys,
New to the forum and the MB world...long time M3/S4 driver.
Having difficulty troubleshooting a problem on an '08 C63. I got a Left SRS warning a couple of weeks ago. Shortly thereafter while driving down a bumpy road, the steering wheel buttons, horn, and paddle shifters stopped working. All later began working again. Now, every time I start the car, all associated steering wheel accessories will not work and then randomly become active again.
The steering wheel is OEM, but I can't be sure if it was ever off for any reason. I took it to the dealer and my $150 diagnostic fee got me, "Well, we'll start with the steering control module and go from there." Apparently, the code was showing a SRS / control module disconnect. I don't really feel like spending $900 (their estimate) and not knowing if that is really the problem.
Anyone experience this? Anyone have a P/N for the steering control module? I see an ignition lock part number, but I'm not sure I have the right item.
