Will 245/40 and 265/35 PSS Tires Work?

Hello all and sorry for asking a much gone over topic but I couldn't find the info using FAQ and search. Anyway, my C63 has about 12,8xx miles and the tires in front are really worn especially on the inside. The backs are not much better and are very close to the wear bars. I've started calling it "63 skidoo" because of the lack of traction due to the tire wear. I want to put on the Pilot Super Sports but the wall height for the 245/265 sizes is the same as the existing Continental tires. I was told at the tire shop that the height for the wider tires is about .25" taller than stock and this tire doesn't come any shorter in this configuration. So, for those of you who have done this have there been any issues? The tire guy said there may be issues with gearing, suspension geometry or other stuff. What say you?

I am also looking to purchase the same sizes for front and rear assuming you are talking about 18" tires. I think quite a few on here have run these sizes with no issues and some have even tried out 275 for the rear, though I am not too sure how it will look given the tall sidewall.

None for now
Check the wheel thread for all the answers (it's a sticky).

25.7" overall diameter and 809 RPM for the front and 25.3" 822 RPM for rear, you'll be fine and enjoy some added grip.

Thanks for the replies! Sidv22 yes they are 18" wheels. Sorry, I forgot to mention that in my post. kb24forlife24- I did use the tire thread but didn't visit the wheel section as I thought it would not pertain to tires. I'll go there now and see what's there. Dlefty thanks for the tech stuff. Just one question: is the rpms based on per 1000 rpm of the stock size tires?

No, RPM in a tire spec is "Revolutions Per Mile".

For example/comparison, stock Continental ContiSportContact 5P tires are,
235/40-18 25.4" diameter, 818rpm
255/35-18 25" diameter, 831rpm

Thanks dlefty. You saved me from having to do a search I was about to do on the stock Continentals to see what the RPM difference is. I'm going to order a set of the PSS tires tomorrow as it will take about three days to get them delivered. Thanks again!

Tire guy doesn't know what he's talking about and is just covering his butt. I've run these sizes in the Pilot Super Sport for a couple years. The larger diameter will create speedometer error but it is negligible (the car will say 99 when you're really at 100). There are no problems with fit or rubbing or handling.

Most importantly, you will no longer be driving '63 skidoo' - the Michelins have much better traction in both wet and dry conditions. They are an excellent choice.
