Depends on what you will be using the car for. I really have no strong preference for the type of street driving I do as I seldom need quick manual shifts and S or S+ generally suits my needs. I have owned C63s with both transmissions.
It has been said that the torque converter is better for the drag strip and maybe the MCT is better for street and road circuit.

The MCT is a wet clutch and the 7g has a torque converter. Torque converters are always notoriously slower. Take for instance any kind of drilling mechanism that uses a torque converter. You are essentially just "dumbing down" power to get it to where you want. The MCT has the ability to use a multi-clutch system to "rearrange" the power as needed.
I was actually reading about (and from my knowledge of torque converters), I have known that torque converters are beefier and take more abuse because they lack the extra clutches that an MCT has. The torque converter is slower but stronger. The MCT is weaker yet faster....
Input?

The MCT is a better transmission. It is found in nearly all higher end AMGs. It shifts faster and has more modes. The 7G is still found in the bottom trim level cars. Would Mercedes put the better transmission in the lower end cars? Of course not.
That doesn't mean the 7G is bad, but the MCT is the newer iteration.

The MCT is much faster than the 7G. The 7G can handle 900 hp with no issues. Look at DadsC63 I think he was running the 7G his entire time through mods.
In 2008-2011, was the C63 the only car getting the 7G while all others were getting the MCT? Was the 2008-2011 E63 getting an MCT? Can't recall...
It's obvious that they were unloading it on the entry level C.
Would of loved to have the MCT but I don't think I would be spending much time in regular S....It was just be C,S and M for me (which would be S+).

The oval headlight 07-09 E63 had the 7G tronic through the end of the W211 platform of MY 2009. In MY 2010 the E63 switched to the W212 platform with the MCT.

I think the advantage of the MCT is the shifts are more responsive and quicker in manual mode. my car shifts REALLY hard at WOT though, like thrashing you in your seat. i wonder if the 7G is a bit smoother due to the torque converter

The MCT has more heat issues than the torque converter. Doesn't matter how fast the MCT is if your limping around

The MCT has shuddering in very cold weather. Almost like clutch chatter. Only from a roll at a stop sign though. Take foot off brake and start to creep forward and it shudders some. Happens in the cold. Also when you first pull away in cold temps the shifting is abrupt. Once it warms up it is all good. Tq converter trans doesnt do this. I love the MCT though. It suits the car. The SMGIII in the M5 was a lot more jarring.

The torque converter and mct are both the 7g transmission. The mct is better suited for lighter cars like the c63. While i cant tell you weather the torque converter or mct is stronger itself I can say the torque converter transmissions are rated for 700nm and the mct equipped are rated for 1000nm. Although externally they are the same, internally the mct equipped got additional clutch packs and revisions.
If you are looking for smooth liquid flowing power and sit in stop and go traffic regularly id go with the torque converter transmission. If you dont mind some awkward but livable low speed jerkiness at times with noticeably quicker shifts and more aggressive response go with the mct.
