Opinions on Weistec Billet Pulley, Oil/Air separator and Uprated Transmission Pan

Hi Guys,

Any opinion on these items from Weistec?

Billet Idler Pulley
Oil/Air Separator System
Uprated Transmission pan

Any worth in installing any of these on stock engine with V5 Eurocharged map? Benefits? Cost seems to be the only disadvantage.

Or are these items better installed for those with their supercharger systems?

Thanks in advance.

Lots have the Oil/Air Separator System, so that one should be easy to find info on. https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...r-driving.html. The rest not too sure of.

I've got my car in the shop right now getting the Weistec trans pan among other things. My understanding is that it has a number of benefits:
- increased fluid capacity (2.5qt) means that my temps on track will be more stable
- cooling fins on the inside and outside will further reduce temps
- separate fill and drain plugs will allow me to change fluid myself
- extra AN ports will allow me to attach an additional trans cooler if I want

I think if you track your car, it's good insurance at the very least, especially given the cost. Will let you know my findings after I get a few track days on it in March/April.

The oil catch can is a must-do. It's one of the first things you should do to these cars IMO.

As BLKROKT said, the catch can is a great add on.

However, the other things you mentioned, I'd stay away from. They really are meant for a car that will being seeing a ton of track time and just hammered on. If you're DDing yours to work and back everyday then it really is overkill.

Now, if you had a full build going on, or a s/c application, then things like the tranny pan are nice little touches to give you that added peace of mind and performance.

Quick question, for those of you who have the weistec oil/air separator installed, how long did it take to do so? I'm pretty much set on getting it put in, seems like it'll help the life of the engine in the long term.

Should take an hour. It's not hard.

I was quoted 2 hours of labor. Wondering if I should try the install myself.

I am pretty mechanically inclined. What would you say the difficulty level is on a 1-10 scale? 1 being totally a joke like windshield wiper blades or 10 being impossible just have someone else do it because not possible.

depends do you have -10 an wrenchs, stubby torx and allens? hose cutters? The install is not difficult but considering tool costs and potential to break things it may not be worth your struggle. To me id say 2.5 is a fair assessment but i also rebuild engines, transmissions, perform diagnosis and electrical repairs and have 30k$ in tools.

back on topic, I just installed the weistec transmission pan before my track day a few weeks ago. Great quality piece. I have no hard data or logs to prove anything but I can say fitment and quality are great. I never had any transmission shifting issues or anything. I'll probably change the fluid and see if it's burnt or anything. I will say the power steering system definitely needs a bigger cooler, and i could use some more oil cooling. I was in the beginner group and never got to make an entire lap at full kill but my oil temps creeped up to 270*. They quickly dropped back to 230 when i drove at 60% to keep up with until i got the wave to pass.

The pulleys I wouldn't bother with unless yours are noisy and need replaced. The oil separator will keep your intake manifold alot cleaner and prevent carbon build up and low octane from oil getting in the intake tract with the huge suction our crankcase ventilation systems create.

Awesome, thanks! Both of my indy shops are unwilling to do anything that isn't OEM, so if I can't find anyone to install it, I may have to do it myself.

I do have stubby torx and allens. I have done a lot of wrenching in the past on cars. Just was wondering if an install guide or video was out there. I am very careful when doing things on cars as I dont ever want to break anything. Hose cutters I do not have and what is a -10 wrench?

Sharp scissors and an adjustable crescent or box wrench works fine

an wrenches.

You dont have to use these, but the an fittings are soft aluminum and scratch/strip easily. These will help with scratching and over torqueing. The size of them is -10.
