Last weekend I took part in a 3 day event at The Circuit of The Americas. I had a great time. The weather was fantastic. I shared a garage with a Ferrari 458 Speciale, Porsche GT 3 RS, and a Porsche Caymen S. I brought my 4 door family sedan

Here's some footage of about 2 1/2 laps of me trying to close the gap on a C7 Corvette Z06. Well, at least I wasn't left in the dust.


I also put a longer video out there on youtube. It is our group feeding out onto the track and then the first half of the session. Someone from OK had a Sunbeam Yellow GT-S out there. If you're interested then just search on "AMG C63 CoTA" and look for (MVP 2).

Nice video. I need to get to COTA. How is the brake pedal feel with PF pads and SS lines? That's the first mod I'm interested in because C63 pedal feel is awkward.

Thanks! The RE-71R's gripped well and held up reasonably well I suppose. They are off the car now but it looks like they have 1-2 more track days left in them. Luck would have it I am already registered for a one day event in June. I didn't have Pagid pads. I have Porterfield R4S's.

The pads seemed fine but I did have a malfunction with my RF caliper. The inside pistons were stuck in the 'on' position. That one pad wore out completely across the weekend - the others were normal.

Looks like a blast! Was that an MVP event? Have you been to COTA before, and if so how did MVP compare with your prior event?

Yes I have been to CoTA a number of times before - and through 3 different track event organizers. MVP does a great job of putting a good event together. CoTA race control does all of the 'hands on' work of getting Group A out on track and getting Group B notified and queued up for the next session.

My other recent event (1 day) was through Edge Addicts. They too ran a tight ship.

Sunday marked my 8th day (cumulative) of 4 sessions per day. So I've got 32 half hour sessions under my belt so far. I am still working on a few weak spots out there so I NEED more practice!

I had the AMG Academy Advanced at COTA, and that track is easily one of the best. It must be a blast running full tilt!

I've not been to AMG Academy yet. You don't get to run it full tilt in the Academy - even in Advanced?

Nope. Still lead follow with the instructor. The pace is only as fast as the slowest guy in the group of 2 or 3 cars.
Pro lets you set your fastest lap, but the price for admission is too much. I'd rather put that money into track days, brake pads, fluids, and tires.
