Engine Misfiring (after picking up from detailer)
Picked up my C63 at detailer yesterday and immediately at engine start up the check engine light came on and car is misfiring. Have not had a chance to have the car scanned for the code but asked the detailer how he cleaned the engine bay. He told me only soap and water was used but not a hose.
Tried letting the car sit in the sun (with hood up) yesterday for few hours but symptoms still exist. Car still start up with CEL on and start to misfire after about 30 seconds at idle with ticking sound.
Has anyone experienced this before and how to go about fixing this? I was told that possibly water got to the coil and plugs which is causing the car to misfire

Assuming they used some sort of detail spray in there, something might be coating the MAF. I'd do the simplest thing first - remove the intake tract and top - filter housing and clean with MAF cleaner. CRC makes some pretty good stuff.

Take the car back to the detailer and have them diagnose, or pay to diagnose and repair. If you do anything, or have someone else do anything, they will absolve themself of any liability.
If they refuse, document everything, and go see a lawyer.

Shop checked codes and it came back with cylinder 4,5,7,9 misfiring. Mechanic cleared the codes and car drove find for past 15 miles. no cel and car pulls strong just like it was. Apparently, moisture or some water probably got onto the maf, coils, or plugs. The tech told me heat will dry out and car should run fine. Will keep driving the car for next few days and see if cel comes back on and how car feels. Lesson learned...do not let your detailer clean the engine with any type of moisture or soap. Just use a damp towel to wipe things down...;-)
