Launch Easydiag 2.0 Plus

Grabbing this bad boy tomorrow.
http://launchtechusa.com/easydiag2plus/

Couldn't find any info on MBWORLD, although I didn't search very hard

Decent reviews online. Just want something to read/erase from all the modules. I have had the Launch OBDBook for maybe 8 years and it worked well.

Got that pesky EBV, ABS, ESP inoperative issue haunting me again after reaching ~20kph. Last time a thorough cleaning of the rear ABS/wheel speed sensors fixed the problem. No dice this time around

I looked at that one. Didn't see an enhanced add-on for MB and it wasn't clear if it could read anything other than the Engine module.

Have you looked at Carly for Mercedes in PlayStore or iTunes? I have been using it for over a year now and there is NOTHING that it doesn't read or have the ability to reset....not only does it read but it gives the EXACT cause for fault in the module...they have a bespoke Bluetooth module that you can get directly from them but I use an eBay elm327 unit that works just fine....if you want any info on specifics just shoot me a pm, I've played with the software inside and out.

Yeah, didn't know it could work with a generic ELM327 though. It also wasn't fully clear what it could read/erase either. I think a buddy has an ELM327 so I can give it a try.

Thanks for the heads up

You'll HATE the free trial, you'll be SO close to SOOOO much info and ability but not be able to seal the deal you'll be furious...I think the full version was $50 but that was for the ability to read ALL model MB...there is an option to choose JUST your vehicle (you would be able to read ANY W204, not just your car) that is about $20 cheaper.. I promise it's money more than well spent

Couldn't get the ELM327 to connect to BT on my iPhone so I opened the Easydiag 2.0 Plus package.

Seems to work well. Can read everything with live data etc. Likely comparable to the Carly SW.

Did the diagnostic scan of all systems. Saw some codes stored (screenshot below) for the ESP system. Went for a drive to get live codes and the car was fine so it appears to have magically fixed itself lol.

Well, if it has built-in mechanical repair features that fix your car while grabbing live data then it's a no brainer.....

We'll see. Could have just bypassed the fault with the dongle plugged in. I'll know tomorrow morn lol.

OT.. How did you like Grand SRT? Was thinking of one as a winter beater/tow rig.

Keep in mind, the ELM chipset does not support bi directional communication. So while you can read, and basic reset, you cannot actuate or control any of the systems.
I'm not sure you can with the basic Launch setup either, but with the pro line it can.

I went with the Autoenginuity, I found on ebay for $350 and included the Mercedes specific OE coverage. Complete control over all the systems, actuating many of the systems. I have not actually listed it for sale yet, you are more than welcome to it, make an offer, you will have to contact them for any updated software (I think its $50 a year or something for maintenance), the version I have that will work with the security dongle is an older version. Will work (the updates really just add newer MB vehicles, and pretty up the interface to be more touch screen friendly)

....it was a beast and I loved it....AWD, 275s up front, 315s out back-traction was NEVER an issue, wet or dry...not as fast as the C63 but way, WAY quicker(stoplight to stoplight you really can't beat one)...with the Eibach lowering springs it rode like a DREAM...no Benz tax on everything and even though it was "only" a Jeep there was definitely an exclusivity to it(there was not another one within 150mi of me)...don't get me wrong I love my Merc but the Jeep was my girl.

Launch Easydiag 2.0 Plus-2012-06-06_17-29-18_565a.jpg...had it not gone to Valhalla via a Viking death I would honestly still be in it.

Well, it went to 11 different inspection/investigation sites all over the eastern US for about 2mo but in the end they said it was most likely what I had suggested 2hrs after the claim was filed...either fuel rail/feed line ruptured or one of the injectors came apart(fire was being fed fuel under the hood even though I pulled the key when I jumped out to put out the fire....all in all my insurance was top notch about the whole thing and extended my rental for 40days while it was still being inspected and in the end they really did do me very right on the buyout....within 5days of getting my check I had the Merc in my garage

Jasonoff,

Now that you have had some time to use the easy diag, would you say it's worth buying as a standalone code scanning/clearing device.
Would there still be a need for a more comprehensive trouble shooting tool? Ie auto enginuity?

Thanks in advance

Yeah, it's great for what it's designed for. The interface is much better on Android over iOS though.

If Auto Enginuity can do all the STAR diagnostic crap I'd just go that route.
