Blacked my roof today.
This time around I am on the slow but steady program, even tho I still have lots of goodies from the last car. One mod, soak it in, next mod. One every few days. So far all I have done is change the marker lights and put spacers on. Waiting for H&R springs in the next few days.
One of the exterior things I was keen to do was wrapping the roof. Always hard to convey the effect in pictures, but it does visually really lower the car. I dont think it goes with the look of the vehicle quite yet, but pretty sure it will when I am finished. I think I would have preferred gloss, but chose satin because I heard the life cycle of black gloss is so short before it is marred with scratches and swirls. Anyways, here are a couple initial iPhone pics.

I think I like it. You said it perfectly.

Did you do the wrap yourself? The job itself looks really good from what I can tell.

The shop I took it to had an awesome 2016 Porsche GT3RS in there at the same time. The guy clear rockguard film'd the entire car. Job was perfect. Totally invisible.
Im going to black out some chrome elements: window trim, some of the grill, running light surrounds. Probably balance the tint cos its light in front and dark in back so Ill make 50% all round. Those things as a start, combined with a drop, will make it work better I think. Right now the cars a little blingy for a black roof. Those are two different looks.

The weird part about looking at it, is staring at something that is actually supposed to disappear from view lol. If you don't point out a black roof no one notices it, then you point it out and everyone hyper focuses on it. But thought I would put up pics as its part of the process.

+1, I suck at big wrap jobs like that as well lol. It looks great though. I want to wrap my door chrome top/keyless go pieces but just too lazy to do it haha. The wrap looks great though .

Thats what I thought. Mine are the same. I would think you would need to have those painted or with the handling it would just be constantly peeling.

Yea, I saw a DIY on here about removing the door handles to make it easier but....meh, not motivated enough lol. Plus the chrome blends into the magnetite paint and you can barely notice it.

It looks like that lip is supposed to be gloss black as I see it that way on all other facelift cars but on my magnetite the middle part is the same as body color, not black.
Is this normal for our color code?

I like the roof job, looks good!
What wrap do you DIY guys use for your stuff? I figure I would wrap my own trunk strip since everything else is blacked out.

I also have magnetite black and had a question about the front middle bottom part of the bumper.

Check for example a white c63 2012+. Even non p31 will have it.
I found it very odd that on our color they excluded that little touch. Steel grey has it but magnetite black which is similar does not. And every other color has it. Why would they do that??

Exactly my question so why only
Magnetite black is the only
Color missing that touch?
Not that it makes a huge difference as it would pretty much just blend right in with the body color but just makes me wonder why they would this only for this color code.

If you don't like the black part, I suggest doing this. Got the idea from another forum member and for $20 (if you do it yourself) it looks fantastic. (PS this was my first try at wrapping something, I know it will come out better if I had to do it again)

Interesting wrap material. What is it? Not the 3M DiNoc you usually see.
