Tires with utmost grip? 2013 C63 amg coupe.
Hello everyone!
Just became a member of the AMG family. Could anybody recommend me the best tires for my car? looking for as much grip as I could possibly get.
Suggestions appreciated!
Thanks.

To answer your question though, get Michelin PSS.

Yokohama AD08 gets my vote, but might be 'too good' for the squishy nature of a Benz chassis. My E63 grips and go's nicely with barely any fuss.
It's a bit soul-less though. I like a bit of drama and wheel spin...but I suspect 90% of owners will prefer to just get the power down and get on with life.

For utmost grip you need R-Compound tires. The best I have tested is the Pirelli Trofeo R, followed by the Micheline Pilot Sport Cup 2. All the other choices mentioned like Falken, Michelin PSS, RE11, Yokohama etc. are all more street oriented and hence not ultimate grip.
Ultimate grip means poor performance in the rain, cold weather and poor longevity, of course.

It is all relative. Trust me, I have both tires - RE11 on my SLK55 and Trofeos for my C63. The Trofeos have way more grip and the RE11 lives way longer - at least 3 times. If you want ultimate grip, the Trofeo wins hands down. If you want a 'practical' tire, the RE11 is better.

I've been running the Dunlop Sport Maxx Race r-compounds (BS sizes 255/285) for a couple of months now, and have to say that I really like them.

Track tires, well there are different variables like driving to the track, if you will have dedicated wet tires, and your skill level.

PSS probably best over all tire for the street.
I burned through a set of MPS Cup 2's in 4300 Miles. Great tire for track but deadly in the rain.
Have BFG Sport Comp2's and very happy with them. Overall great tire and they are quieter then the MPS.
Yoko AD08's - hooks like no tomorrow, but they don't last either.

I would have to agree the Michelin PSS are an exceptional tire and the best choice for the street. I was amazed when i first fitted a set after previously using Conti's and Dunlop (amongst others) the difference was profound. As a bonus they improved my quarter mile/0-60 times.

I started with the Yokohama's, switched to Conti's, and then went Mich PSS, the PSS's are a huge upgrade on the street. Better grip, better in the rain, and wear much, much longer, as in at least twice as long. Can't go wrong with PSS for street.
