How anal are you about parking your AMG?

Having your car gone for extended periods to body shops and paying insurance deductibles are a pain in the *** and not insignificant things. My deductible for this type of thing is $1000 Can or about $1350 US. I don't regard that as insignificant either.
I drive the hell out of my car. I track it. I carry signs in it. I let my kids eat in it. I let my friends and acquaintances drive it. I DONT let total dipstick strangers bash into it.

Thx pback. I was going paint my wheels black, but since i now know how to clean them, they are growing on me.
I also consider gravity and driver door position when i choose a spot.
If you dont care about your car or what happens when you park i am jealous!!!!! I am afflicted w detailitus.... A condition where a single scratch will stay on my mind until it is corrected.
My f150 is lower on the ocd list but not far.
My brother has a 996 tt in boulder co, no garage, drives it year around, hes shopping for a pcar mtn bike rack. He is my hero. zERO car ding stress....... He would not even notice..., as long as it says porsche and is fast as f$$k.

May 3rd. I park at 7am I am the only car in two lots, with the bigger lot behind me also empty. I am in a meeting of about 8 people. This woman comes in late, and I know that she drives this POS Volvo, covered in dents and scratches. But when she walked in, I had a feeling. Sure enough, I come out at 815am and there is one other spot taken, and I knew which spot it would be.
Bear in mind there are actually about 8 spaces on either side between this end of the lot and the cars that you don't see, and another 40 or so empty spaces behind me for a total of probably 60 spaces. I knew where she would be, and she was.

Reminds me of a classic Simpsons episode -- Homer arrives at the factory lot, a huge lot, there's only one car in it, he pulls up right next to it, squeezes out of the door with difficulty, looks at the other car, and says "Idiot."

When I was a starving college student and drove a $900 30 yr old toyota, I used to park in between 2 cars that required me to exit from the rear hatch. This car was not a treasure, or a prize, or a trophy....... it was simple transport from a 2 b. If one were to add a door ding it would be hard to detect the new ding from the existing ding. Not sure if you can ding a ding.

Every car I have personally valued, regardless of its financial worth, I have parked off to the side. If nothing else it lets me admire it from afar as I walk over to it. It's not "just a car", it's MY car. I park my wife's van anywhere, cos to me it's just transportation. I personally don't own vehicles that are just transportation. If you do and claim to be a car guy, you either aren't or you have settled and it's time to move up a notch.

I park as far as possible and even take the extra effort to make sure I park in between the lines.
Even then you will have someone who will park right next to you or leave a cart next to you. I've had my car spat on and 3 door dings (all repaired). Luckily I've caught every single person who had dinged my car and they are mostly high school kids who don't know how to operate a door properly and will always deny it until a police report is filed.
At the end of the day. Its just a car that gets used and abused but man... People suck
Online shopping is preferred nowadays.

I park wherever I can. Like others have mentioned, it's just a car. A fantastic car, but still. This doesn't mean I don't get upset when a ding or scratch happens, I do. But in the end, I'll get over it. And if the damage is severe enough, glad my deductible is only a hundred bucks.
There's only 2 times I park far, but not to avoid parking next to people One is at work, because I'm hiding from co-workers/bosses. lol.
Second, is because some people wait 5-10 minutes to get the third stall from the entrance. Where I will drive 20 stalls down to plenty of parking and take the extra 20 seconds to walk to the front door. This right here I do not understand, is the closest spot to the entrance really that important of a thing? I mean if it's open I'll take it, but if I have to wait for it, I'll pass onto the next stall.

Curious to see how much a full repaint is?
Is it to OEM spec or equivalent. Is it a base color or premium.
PM me if needed! Thanks

honestly...it isn't cheap...i don't want to do it...but as mentioned my paint up close isn't great at all...from far away...looks cherry. i have a few things i need resolved...front fender hit and run from someone in an SUV who didn't leave a note...and a light key job from someone who didn't like my car at work my 2nd week.
in Northern California...my local paint shop which was a referral through friends of many years quoted me $4,000 to return to factory color. this is with a front fender replacement which is somewhere along the lines of $500 for a used replacement. At this time I will be replacing the factory windshield as well, as 10 years of outdoor exposure has caused the factory windshield to pit and haze up. not sure how much the windshield replacement will cost, as it has yet to be factored in.
paint prices can vary greatly though...i believe in comparison southern California labor rates are 15% less.

I guess it's inherent but but not obvious in the question.... whether or not we treasure our cars. If mine were a daily driver, i would most likely feel a bit different about it, but not much. But being a weekend pleasure mobile with absolutely no scrapes or wheel rash, i will take whatever precautions I can. I see it as pride and not vanity. For me, spending two hours washing and detailing on a weekend is therapy, not a chore.
Also, since i referee soccer on the weekends, I am especially cautious at matches since i don't want any irate, usually parents, following me to my car and doing something stupid. An AMG does make for a quick getaway thoug.

I've actually found it better to park closer to the next car. That way it makes them aware of my car being there and forces them to carefully squeeze out when they open the door, unless they ding maliciously, in which case I can't help them.

i try to park next to a wall or a post if available. lessens the chance of door dings by half. if not i park wherever theres a spot, then cross my fingers.
also, i dont like parking next to a trolley bay. and i guess its worth mentioning that i hate people leaving trolleys everywhere especially right next to my car or behind it. i swear ill run them over if i catch them in the act.

I'm not super ****, but I won't park next to a return trolley place, and I try not to park in spots in the middle of two cars.
But, at the same time, if I'm in a hurry, or if there are no other spots left, then I'll do it. It's just a car at the end of the day, it's an 09 with 71000KM on it. It looks near mint, but, it's getting up there in age.
