Gas Smell From Driver Rear Wheel

So I've got a 2009 C63 with 104,000 miles and as of a couple days ago, I smell a distinct scent of unspent fuel coming from the drivers rear wheel area. After driving the car and parking it in the garage, the entire garage wreaks of gas smell but no leaks on the floor are visible.

This morning, the garage no longer smells of gas and there is no puddle so I am assuming the leak is a very small one that only occurs when the engine is running.

This is the first car I have owned where I have not "wrenched" on and am a little weary to do so.

So my first thoughts are fuel filter or sending unit. How difficult are these to access and locate in these cars?

Thanks!

Several threads about this one already, but I think the units are under the back seats that have several (4) clips that hold them in place. Once you remove the rear seats, the units are under there. Also, not sure but I thought the charcoal canister was in the driver rear fender. If the fuel smell is coming from there specifically and you have cats, there is a good chance that its the valve on that. BTW, really good to see a C63 on here with 104,000 miles!

I searched before found the ones regarding cats but I'm 100% stock and then just found one now about the sending unit.

Any info on how hard this repair is or just take it to the dealer?

I think it found the info in the W211 forum. Some had pics as far as if it's the sending unit. I didn't really look any further into it... I know the W211 had a unofficial recall on the units....

Thanks, I'll probably end up just taking the car into the dealer as I don't feel like messing with this in the heat.

AZ local too myself!

Fuel Pump related issue.

If you get the time have the Oil Pump checked out, PCV Valve and Injectors and Rail.
