GOING Bittersweet transistion W205...going to miss the N/A C63 for sure
Going to do it I am pretty sure. After months of cyber research, test drives and insane hours of internet browsing I think I found my next ride. At least I stayed in the family...
Tomorrow I drive this one http://inventory.starwoodmotors.com/...exas/31510936/
It better smoke the tires and handle like nobody's business (RWD). It's Eurocharged turbos and tune so I think I'm on the right track. I want 1,000 rwhp for $100Kor less in a sedan I can drive fast and hard! Many exclusions thus far...E63 included, Rapide, Ghibli, S Class AMG, Panamera, even 911"s, Audi RS7, BMW M everything, Bentley too big.
Input welcome!

I had a W205 C63 for 4 mo's.... check for these issues when you test drive:
1. lower side valence trim coming loose.... the double sided tape comes undone.
2. squeak in the dash whil'st driving over long period dips....
THE GOOD:
Oh boy that motor! and sound is superb! And the tq fantastic. I would have kept mine, but it had this loud azzz squeeek over every long period dip in the road... like an old bed spring in the middle of the dash. I'm sure I just got a bad one......

I test drove the the W205 and wasn't impressed at all. It drove smooth and was fast (not that you could really feel it) but all the enjoyment was gone .
I notice you have a PFL C63, did you check out a FL, 507 or BS? What made you choose the W205?

Just curious does the w205 seem significantly faster than the FL w204 with p31 or 507 pkg?

Pretty subjective statement.
W205 C63's are newer, fast(er) but early production quality issues control and fast depreciation seems to be the curve. Chassis built in the US and over estimation of NA sales could be the reason.
W204 C63's have the legendary M156, more mechanical than electronics and have the most R&D, MB has ever spent on a single chassis. Pricing are getting much cheaper but the MY2011,2012+ and Black Series seem to retain their value pretty well.
Anyways the driver behind the wheel is key and any additional "Go Fast" mods are a plus.

Agreed and this ***** has mods done right! Eurocharged Turbos, Tune & Intercooler...no exhaust mods yet or downpipes, again yet! ADV1 7801 Wheels & Pirrelli PZero's (not my favorite but I'll toast them), matte grey wrap. It's a badass and after my test drive I was immediately sold.

There is a video of a stock C63s vs a Tuned/catless C63 and they were pretty even then the C63s started to pull. I think a BS would be dead even

BS doesn't have the torque of the W205.

Early production issues on the W205? Have you read the multitude of headbolt failure threads on the W204?
There's nothing subjective about the performance numbers and reviews.
I've owned both and would never go back. The new car is an order of magnitude better in every way.

Not apples to oranges. Im pretty sure a stock BS is as fast if not faster than a tune/catless C63. So a BS and a C63S should be dead even. I have a C63S coupe on order Im not hating on it but it wont blow our old cars away. Modded definitely another story. But yes a stock C63 will get crushed by a stock C63S

I think it also depends what you mean by stock c63.
The way I see it the c63S model is a replacement of the c63 p31 (believed to be well underrated at 481bhp)
Whereas the non c63s (c63 regular) is more comparable to the stock detuned c63 rated accurately at 451bhp.
A stock p31 with the MCT trans im pretty sure is about as fast as a stock c63 BS.
If so, then even stock for stock it should be pretty close in a straight line between a w204 p31 MCT c63 and a w205 c63s.

Indeed it is faster and handles better. The interior is nicer (minus horrible ipad)..but the car is still boring to me. Also I rather not die having all the safety features off lol. Being able to enjoy the car, the raw power, have all safety features on and it's still a beast, think it's beyond sexy, that's why I have stuck with the W204. Of course it will always be subjective per each person. I was just curious why OP chose the W205 and if he considered the other options .

The W204 C63 AMG is the last reminiscent essence of the original W201-190E (Sportline, EVO I, EVO II). Essentially a high revving "AMG Hammer" V8, classic German style dash, more mechanics than electronic assists when it comes to driving, 100% built in Germany and the way everything opens, closes and feels overall. Add years and years of DTM Racing championships won by this chassis moping the floor with BMW, Audi.
Hard to think too ahead but with all the things mentioned, in a decade or 2. All these things will really help retain the desirability and value of the car. There is just too much history we are overlooking.

M156...AMG's first production engine "fully" designed, engineered, and built by AMG for a standard road car. Before the M156 all non supercar AMG engines were just "tuned" by AMG.
one of the best sounding larger displacement V8 in history.
i'm keeping mine until it blows up...12mpg and all.

In regards to other posts, not going to lie, I think the W205 AMG is a beautifully designed car, but it's just too subtle for my tastes. Maybe that's a byproduct of being 24, idk...
The W204 AMG just looks so much more.. manly. The W205 AMG, to me, is the car you drive in a suit and tie, while W204 is your everyday beast. At least mine since it's a bit "look at me" with it's carbon bits and wide fenders. If I had a W205, I'd have to wake it up a bit aesthetically. Full widebody on that thing

No lie - you should write a post just on the history and background of the W204. You seem to know more about it that most, myself included.

I don't know much Haha... I am more stuck on the traditional racing heritage of MB/AMG embodied in a more modern chassis. I'll post some pictures and info soon.
The updated N/A M156 is stout and reliable enough for me with the goal for simplicity and longevity. Coming from mostly turbo cars, I wanted something more raw and more displacement dependent. When considering other options. The AMG Bi-turbo engines will eventually start to degrade electronics, sensors quicker due to the increased under hood temps and "rats nest" of lines, etc. Nothing lasts forever but I would rather be driving than having the car down or living in shops when it has 50k+ into the car.
The new W205 C63's are making tons of power and the exterior/interior are so futuristic and modern. But I know like everything, it must eventually evolve. But they are slowly growing on me, esp. the C63 coupes. I truely wish MBUSA offered the shooting brake W205 C63! 2 totally different beasts. One is firmly stuck on the roots and one slowly straying away with "AMG" cues.

I think what your going on about is the overall shape of the two cars. W204 is more square, boxy and by nature this looks much more aggressive.
The w205 is much more rounded and curvy, so definitely has a less aggressive, softer look to it.
Not fitting with such a beastly engine IMO, but the looks of the w204 fits it's character perfectly.
If I was going just based off looks alone I say w204 wins easily over w205.
However if it's based on performance it seems like that's an entirely different ball game.
