Potential 2008 C63 Buyer
Hi guys,
(I did use the search button so sorry if this has been asked 10000 times)
I've been looking for a C63 for the past couple months now and finally have found one that I "Like" , should I be concerned with the fact that its a 2008? I always get told not to get the first year of a model..is there any truth to this? (im a car and mercedez benz newbie). I'm fully aware of the "head bolt" issue trying to figure out if this car has had that problem dealt with and will get an inspection done for sure. It has ~62000km = ~38525 miles
Thanks in advance!
edit: just found out the car has a claim for some hail damage back in 2012 but it was fixed ~$3k anyone have experience with this?
previous cars: bmw e46 and e92 m3 if that matters, making the switch over..

The headbolt issue is an expensive fix if it has not been attended too. If it is not fully documented for sure you need to get that checked by someone who knows and can be trusted to tell the truth.
I understand it is a $10000 fix but I could be wrong.

Not $10k. You could get it done 3-4 times for $10k.
OP - They are stout cars/engines. Just remember, it's an 8 year old c-class with a big motor. It'll probably have some character at this point (aka. squeeks and rattles here and there) but overall you'll be happy making the switch to an AMG.
That being said, the headbolts are also a known issue. If you don't have the cash to replace the bolts you should either get an extended warranty (if you even can) or finance an extra $3k or so and just get the bolts done so you don't have to worry.
There really aren't many hidden surprises in the w204 c63

Headbolts are a LOT cheaper when done as a preventative measure than after a catastrophic failure. Get out in front of that one.

Be careful with extended warranties, newbie - they are NOT all the same. The kinds of things they cover vary widely. Do some shopping and look carefully to confirm that you are making apples to apples comparisons.
