Motor oil quesion, AMSOIL or Mobil
Hello guys, recently joined the forums; I am an Architect from Los Angeles, just purchased a 2002 CL500 Renntech edition. Charcoal metallic exterior with custom designito expresso interior. Had a question about my motor oil.
The previous owner of my recently bought 2002 CL500 stated that he only used Amsoil motor oil on the engine. I have heard many great things about Amsoil and some about scam. What do you guys recommend? Continue using Amsoil oil or change to another motor oil? What options, state the ones you use, an are there discount stores to purchase them. Thanks

I'll second that mobile 1 0-40 european car formula recommendation. Its what MB advises and you can get it at Walmart for $6.57 per quart. Costs about $8 qt anywhere else.

I've been using Mobil 1 forever. Yes many swear by amsoil and I'm sure it's excellent too. I think at this level there's no bad choice, just a personal preference. But, the MB recommendation is for Mobil1 0-W40. As an example; my oldest vehicle, a 96 E 320 W210 I rolled out of the showroom when they first hit market and were hard to get has seen nothing else but Mobil1. Today it has 206,000 miles on it and is still runs perfectly. Zero oil sweat around gaskets, zero leaks, zero sounds of high mileage from the engine, and still has all of it's power.
