Which one 03 5 spd or 04 7 spd

I ask this question as I had a Lexus five speed auto and then got then ls430 6 spd and I enjoyed the zfive speed better. Any other difference between these two cars

I'm pretty sure the 04 cl500 didn't have the 7 speed. They didn't have the 7 speeds until 07 afaik. The 04 will have a standard 5 speed auto in it.

my 2004 CL500 has the 7 speed. It's a "driver adaptive" transmission and is known to be "clunky" on downshifts, almost like it's having trouble deciding which gear to be in. Other than that, I love it. Upshifts are very smooth- you can hardly feel the car changing gears. It can be shifted manually or automatic. It also has a "comfort" mode previously known as a winter mode, which allows the car to start in 2nd gear on wet/slippery pavement, reducing wheel spin.

i've read on this site that the 7 speed can have problems and there is an issue on which fluid to use. check the mercedes tech talk on this board.
