transmission conductor plate
Hey guys has anyone ever replaced the transmission converter plate before? If so why? What does it do? I'm having problems with my key not turning and starting up i been reading some posts on here/ My tech seem to think it could be the converter plate, if anyone has had the same problem and got it fixed could you share what the problem was!! I'm going to start wit the starter relay and go from there. It's starting to do it quite often now. Thanks guys!

The conductor plate goes bad due to a leaky rubber grommet that allows transmission fluid to leak and wick its way up the wiring damaging the conductor plate . Fairly common issue . Sometimes cleaning the conductor plate and putting a new grommet will fix it

Why guess and go from there?
Get your tech to do a full diagnosis via recommended STAR SDS get codes and replace what is faulty. And yes, conductor plates do go out commonly, mainly the speed RPM sensor on it.
Just trying to help. Good luck

The conductor plate in transmission will not affect key turning in the ignition, Its more likely something to do with the ignition switch than the transmission, need to get machine on it really and tested.

conductor plate/ no start
In the late 90's up until 2000 and some 2001 models of Benz the transmission conductor plate plays a role in the security with the smart key. When the transmission conductor plate starts to lose contact with the EIS, interment no start when turning the key will develop. Mercedes thought having part of the security handshake start feature locked inside an oil filled transmission made stealing their cars more difficult and less desirable. So depending on what year car, the transmission conductor plate could be responsible for the no crank when turning the key issue.
