Question Coolant Flush!!!

So I feel like do my own coolant flush. I am a weekend warrior and work on cars everyday but now it's my car and its a AMG so just wanted to know the grade of coolant and the quantity it will need.

Also if there is any special tool or technique I need to know about

I would for sure use the MB spec. 325 coolant. AF coolants are not as universally interchangeable as the manufactures say. My 05 owners manual, P.412, says 15.3 US qt. for a CL55. I don't have any changing experience.

Thanks for the information! I will be doing the flush after my new heat exchanger and pump comes in

pop the hood. open coolant reservoir while engine is cold to get some pressure out of the system.

jack the car on jackstands, underneath on the radiator you should see a red plug. i forget which tool i used but it's not hard to take off. this is the drain plug

make sure you use proper mixture if called for

you can squeeze the large hose coming from the engine block to the radiator to kinda pump out the last bit of coolant and also the way i "feel" if my car has good coolant flow/level

see if you can park on an incline when you're done, i'd also leave the coolant tank cap open overnight to help get any air that might be in the system. again squeezing the large hose should help getting air out also possibly

don't forget to cap it and make sure you have proper level in the reservoir when finished. maybe carry some extra coolant in the trunk for a week incase it burps some air and you lose some fluid level? not very probable but a possibility i guess...

I would use a complete coolant exchange (most shops have the system) rather than just flush the system. You will never get all the old coolant and scale out of the block and heating systems by "sqeezing" the hose.

Would the Prestone flush and fill kit you splice into a heater hose flush out the cooling system completely ?
