ECU and TCU software upgrade from Mercedes and ECU/TCU tunes from tuner shops
Hello again,
The Mercedes firmware in my CL600 is from 2003 which means that it does not have the latest-greatest firmware which Mercedes released for this car.
I have the opportunity to get it upgraded but before I decide to proceed, I want to know whether new Mercedes software will overwrite ECU/TCU tune from Carlsson (or any other tune for that matter).
Is it possible to "save" the custom tune and then reinstall it after firmware is upgraded to the latest Mercedes version from Mercedes?
Generally, I'd like to understand more about ECU/TCU coding/flashing programming. Are there are books or online resources available? I do not intend to code anything myself, just want to understand the possible switches/options/tunes and the process for installing those tunes in relation to the base firmware from Mercedes.
On a side note, I tried contacting Carlsson more than a dozen times. Zero response.
I also contacted Speedriven about their Black Friday sale. Also zero response.

I believe Renntech produces the most power from their tunes. I got an honest 125 RWHP increase from mine. Their 625 hp claim is very conservative from what I experienced on a dynojet.

When I got my renntech tune around 10 years ago, Renntech was charging $6k. I think they still charge around $3k. Back then it and if my memory serves me correctly was basically Kleeman and Renntech and the Kleeman tune was not setting any records.

Retunes
Can you elaborate? on free retunes and specifics?
I will also say that Eurocharged is the most responsive and informative (via email) from all tuners I tried to get in touch with.
How does Eurocharged tune compare to Renntech's? What I need is some basis for comparison.
Thank you.
