Keyless Go "key teach-in" Procedure

I've searched through a bunch of threads in several forums and cannot find a straight answer.
What is the process for "key teach-in" on a 2004 CL55?

Background:
I purchased my CL used from a private party that bought the car at auction.
The car only came with 1 smart key (yes, car has the keyless go option).
The 1 key works fine but I wanted to get a replacement 2nd key so I bent over at the dealer and bought a $300+ replacement key (provided the VIN blah, blah, blah).
I now have the new key (well, it's been about 3 years now) and while it works using the lock/unlock buttons and I can start the car with the key physically in the ignition switch, the keyless go portion does not work (key not recognized).

Since everything else seems to work, can I assume this key has already been 'taught' or is there a process that needs to happen?
I'm suspecting that since (from what little info I've been able to find) this model can only have 2 'active' smart keys at any given time, I need to remove the missing key (from the "key track") and replace it with the new key-
However, my C3 Diagnostics mentions that this "teach-in" needs to be performed first and references a document that unfortunately really explains nothing about what this "teach-in" process is or how it's performed.

Any tips or insight would be most helpful.
Thanks!
Elm
