CL500 vs CLK350 tall people opinions please
so i might sell my clk350 and get a cl500, ive been very pleased with my clk350 good mpg, reliable, comfortable. however the balance shaft issue is worrying me. my car has 83k miles on it right now and it is in the range for engines affected. so i figure i might as well upgrade to a CL500 my budget is about 10k and i know at that price range cl500's will have some mileage and wear but im curious how the cars hold up. is the suspension system really that unreliable? and how much more expensive would it be to maintain and fix the cl500 compared to the clk350? could i fix alot of the things myself? ALSO im 6'4 200 lbs the clk350 fits me but i wouldnt mind a roomier car how much more headroom is there compared to the CLK? legroom, shoulder room, and hip room im fine an inch and half or two would be great.. hope to hear from yall soon!

As much as I love my CL, DONT DO IT. The clk350 is MUCH more reliable and is based on newer technology than the w215. Yes, the suspension is that bad. unless you plan on gutting it and putting in coils you will not enjoy the reliability plus, the maintenance cost is more than triple. I have a S class that I drive everyday. If I didn't I would not have bought a CL but would have bought your car now.

abc is not big problem if you change oil and filter every two years
or 20.000 max 30.000 kilometers
if you have more powerful car, cl600 or amg models you must replace it more often!
if you do this regularly, abc system works up to 500.000 km without problems

I like to meet someone that has had no ABC problems up to 500.000 km (300.000 Miles) even if they changed oil and filter every 20.000 km or every two years....Struts don't last that long.

To answer the OPs questions, the CLK in my experience does have more headroom. Not a lot more but enough to notice. But the CL does have a significant amount of more shoulder/body room (much wider seats) and also more legroom. Now the backseats, the CLK has much more room for legs and head, but not width
