issue accelerating
Just had CEL come on. Took it to indy and they said it was the secondary pump relay. They replaced it and light is good. They ran diagnosis and said there was an old spark plug misfire code (I think, maybe cylinder misfire). I had it at a diff indy about a year ago who said the same thing and replaced the sparkplugs at 85k miles. I assume that indy just didn't clear the code. Anyway, before the CEL came on, when I'd accelerate sometimes the car would "surge" forward repeatedly and the tach would bounced back and forth ever so slightly. after the light came on, it surged more noticeably. I just picked it up and it's still surging with the bouncing tachometer. Any thoughts? you can even hear it in the exhaust. It will sound like the engine is revving for a split second then slow, then rev again. I wish I could describe it better.

if it's a 600 could possibly be ignition module. maybe even accelerator pedal, but i'm just guessing. they bshould clear all codes. you drive and then recheck codes.

sorry joe, it's a 2005 cl600 85k miles. The radiator recently was replaced and I think the mechanic broke the air box (?) A different mechanic said it needed to be replaced asap or else debris could get sucked into the turbo and mess it up. That's why my buddy thinks it could be debris in the waste gate and its causing the turbo vent to stay open slightly. I hope I don't sound stupid, I'm not very mechanically inclined..

surging problem with S550 4matic w221
hello tkafam,
thanks for posting your car problem on this forum.
I'am experiencing exactly same issue with my S550 4matic, when going highway speeds 80-120km/h my car will surge forwards, then drop speed and loop this motion in repeat until I let go of accelerator pedal and allow for 5 second break.
coincidently my mechanic came to same conclusion as yours and replaced my torque converter however my issue is not completely resolved.
Could you please confirm that your surge problem is 100% resolved with replacement torque converter? was there anything else done on the tranny or elsewhere along with this job?
your help is much appreciated

I am working on a 2003 C240 that when accelerating the engine sputters and cuts out almost stalls completely. I have personal thought it to be the accelerator pedal signal, sensor, though Mercedes specialist are telling the customer it is the coils. well each spark plug is getting spark at idle and it runs good normally. I don't know what the ohms should be on each coil primary and secondary circuit.
I really hate to go probing the ignition
