Highbeams will not stay on.....any ideas as to why?
Hey group. I have a 2001 CL600 and when I turn on my highbeams they flash and do not stay on. Even when I push the lever forward to constantly stay on, it just flashes. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how I can fix it? Thanks!

Pulling turn signal stalk forward towards your body is flash to pass , pushing the stalk toward the dash should put them on constant
Might be something wrong with the stalk

Thanks for the suggestion. I contacted the previous owner and he said that the car has HID lights, and if I put the regular bulbs back in the high beams will work properly. Does that sound correct to you?

The car has a separate bulb for low and high beams, so I don't know how that would stop the high beams from working just because he swapped out the low beams to HID. Might have to get in there and find out what has been modified, if it's done right you can easily run HIDs and have everything work like factory.

The way some aftermarket hid kits are wired, they tap only into the factory low beam wiring
So yes it's possible it's not working correctly due to an aftermarket hid kit
But it might also not work properly if you go back to stock either - often people put an aftermarket hid kit in when there's problems with the factory system

The w215 was the first car in the world to have bi xenon lamps. Your high beams are xenon (aka HID) already...so not sure what the previous owner means.
Maybe the ballasts have a problem.
