HELP! Need Advice for W215 Extended Warranty Options.
Hi. I am new to the MB forum. I created a profile for this specific question. I am considering purchasing a used 2005 W215 with 75k miles on it. The list price is set under $14,000. The Carfax states that it is in great shape. No accidents, maintenance was maintained over the years and there were only two owners. I always hear the phrase "there is nothing more expensive than a cheap Benz" but I love this car and really have my eyes set on it.
Are there any third party warranties that will cover this car up to 100k or possibly 150k? And will they take car of the parts or maintenance that W215 owners most frequently have trouble with? I understand that whatever warranty options I have will be expensive but I am okay with that. I prefer having a warranty for my cars and this car especially being that it is a high-end luxury vehicle. I just want to know what companies and warranties work well with this specific model. Please help.

Your options will be limited as the car is over ten years old
Usaa has a good warranty but only for cars with less than 80k miles and less then 8 years old
I think fidelity is a highly rated warranty but don't know if they go out 11 years

Find a good independent mechanic and have a couple thousand set aside. Get done with the preventative maintenance and the stuff you'll have to deal with isn't too bad. You won't find a warranty at any reasonable price, if at all. Not to mention the exclusions in those contracts.

What Jack said. Find a good mechanic in your area that you can trust (not the dealer). I switched out the hydraulic suspension because thats normally the most expensive thing to keep working fine. Other than that have whatever you would spend on a warranty saved and keep your car serviced. You should be ok.

If your w215 is a cl500 the only truly expensive failure area is the abc suspension
Most warranties do not cover it anyway
The drivetrain is fairly bulletproof
If it's a cl600 those have coil pack and ignition transformer problems which can be expensive
