Trunk help
Hello all. My first post. I'm a long time gear head and car enthusiast. Just made a deal on an 04 CL600. It's out of state and had some vandalism done to it. Got a good deal because of the damage, and I think I can fix all the small things. Needs an outside mirror, cup holder, ashtray lid. Mostly little stuff.
However, the inside trunk mechanism is damaged. I'm confident I can fix it, based on what I've read.
My direct question is...is there a way to get the trunk to close for transport? The hydraulic line has been cut. The motor is making noise. I think it is all there. Just not working.
Any tips or tricks to get it to close?

Just talked to dealer/seller. He said the trunk latch is "closed" and the trunk won't close. Says he's afraid if he forces closed, it won't open again. I've asked for a picture. I'm thinking just move the latch open. He's probably not a mechanic.
Ill post pic when I get it tomorrow.

If the latch has been closed, it should open if they try to open the trunk via the remote, button on the driver door, or key in the trunk lid. Shouldn't be any special deal there.
The key method might be the only way if there was wiring damage or the PSE air system is out, all of which can effect the latch in different ways.

Great. Thanks. I have pics. Have to get them off the phone.
I'll see if they can use the key.
Put key in, turn key to right take control and lock. Then left to unlock. Close trunk. Correct?

There is also a procedure to manually unlatch the trunk if the key or pneumatics don't work

I would do this while the lid is open as you have easy access to everything , before trying to close and lock the lid , that way you can get easy access to reopen if it won't open using the key or pneumatic latch once you do close and lock it
For transport they can just use bungee cord the trunk closed , even while Unlatched

Either way, you probably want to unplug that motor, or if you know which fuse controls it, unplug it (unless it ALSO controls something else). Just my opinion, but I wouldn't want it to run without fluid.
