Upper coolant hose mystery
The new to me cl600 sprung a coolant leak on its first drive around town.
At least it waited until I got home to let me know.
The radiator was replaced not long ago. I have the receipt, and it appears new.
My question is on the upper hose, where it turns down, on the right side as you are facing the engine. Under the air snorkel. There is a plastic coupler, which has a thumb sized nipple sticking down. On this car, a rubber cap was placed there, which failed. The on line diagrams I am finding are showing this nipple with a 6-8 inch hose coming off. Where is it supposed to go?
Also, will losing the coolant trip the ABC fault system? These two things happened almost at same time.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Should not be related to the abc fault, although if you got coolant on the belt and it started slipping on the pump, or coolant got into the suction valve which is on top of the pump, it could cause the ABC light. What actual fault did the ABC set?

ABC had a dash message in red. Replaced the broken rubber cap, refilled and ops tested ok. ABC red warning out. Yellow check engine still on. PO444 and P0410 on the codes. O2 sensors and gas cap I think.

maybe you should make a picture first so we see what you are talking about
second, ABC is in the right area facing the front of the car too
you might have liquid on the electrical ABC connectors
and if, like
ItalianJoe1
suggest, you got liquid in the ABC system, you better stop driving and clean up the whole system

All seems fine now. Can't take a picture. The plastic nipple/spout I'm talking about is buried and faces down. The ABC message is gone. I think coolant was spraying on the belt, allwing the pump pully to slip.
This hose runs from the top center, down the right side as you face the engine. The parts diagram of the hose shows another hose connected to the small spout. Not a cap.
Any help on what the smaller coolant hose should connect to? I'm thinking possibly the intercooler has been bypassed. I'll get it up in the air and investigate further.
I'll try and find a picture to post.

This is what it appears I have, with a cap on the small hose:
Is the correct hose diagram the one on the right? If so, where does the small hose (number 10) connect to?
