Buying a 2008 CL65 now? Your opinion pls

Hi,
I'm lusting over a CL65, just recently I found few cars I liked.
Mileages 40-60k miles. Prices from 50-60k USD. You can get a facelift CL500 4Matic for this kind of money.

What do you think about buying V12 Biturbo AMG from 2008/2009 in today's performance environment with 4.7 V8TT being so powerful already?
Does it even make sense? Or maybe a CL600 would satisfy my autobahn cruising joy and I will not look further?

With that said, I got Benzes to drive daily I just always wanted a CL..

My daily is a W126 500SE and W210 E55 AMG.

Talk me out of it please.

Be prepared to pay a lot for maintenance if you purchase a CL65. Repairs to this engine can be extremely expensive. Talk to the service managers at your local dealers and ask about their experiences with both CL65 and S65 vehicles. They might not have a lot of information since very few of these vehicles exist.

You may be in for a shock when you find out how much they charge to replace the spark plugs.

The CL63 4matic vehicles accelerate zero to sixty faster than the CL65. It appears the CL65 rear wheels do not provide enough traction to use it's enormous power. The CL65 only appears to have an advantage at extremely high autobahn speeds.

I'm aware of the maintenance and I know it will be the highest of all Benzes as 65 is the AMG flagship. I've stopped by at a specialized AMG Service and they said I shouldn't be worried about the maintenance. Also, what I consider interesting, they said higher mileage isn't a problem, it's actually better to buy a higher mileage car with a regular proper service history than a lower mileage one with unknown or cost-saving service history (cheap oil, etc.).

They also said the 65 isn't about comparing itself to other cars because there are other cars that have a better grip and better weight/power ratio and better handling. The S/CL65 should be about knowing you have enough power/torque at all speeds and for effortless cruising and more than anyone else and you drive the best possible.

S63 COUPE M157
This is a situation I dealt with not long ago. The badge "65" was so tempting that I didn't really care about the old 5-speed automatic and RWD. I really loved the idea of having something of an extreme nature, but at the end of the day, I wasn't able to find a decent one. I only found a bunch of used cars with uncertain history at German unofficial dealers.

For that money, you are better off with a 2011-12 CL550 4matic. It will be as fast or faster (esp in low traction conditions), more reliable, cheaper to maintain, depreciate less and have a better interior. The M157 V8 t-turbo engine is the bomb.

If, however, you hope to show off the car to your friends or strangers in traffic, get the V12.

I agree the V12 can be a nice image maker, esp. among business people. You would get remember, that's for sure. I was, however, looking for a good value for money and a great ride other than some subjective factors which I don't have to care about such as image. My R107 is a better image maker than any CL65 anyway
I know the 500TT is a wonderful car. I am, however, looking for an AMG. Right now, I'm on a hunt for the best/latest possible CL63 M156 Designo I can find the same way GMBALL did.
We'll see. Right now, I'm happy the CL65 bug has let me go

If I were you, I would wait and buy an 11-14 face lifted 65
