Best brand for all weather tires
If there's an existing thread, pls. direct me.
If not, my 2012, w/ 27 k miles on the original Conti's, needs rubber. I live in snow country and need to move w/in wks. I have the AMG pkg., w/ 20" AMG logo'd wheels, not chrome, so looking for year-'round tires.
I moved from 221 platform/S550 to the CL in April. I had put Conti DWS on the 550 4 Matic. I had stock 18" wheels. Maybe imagination, but I found the road noise distracting w/ the DWS. Otherwise, I found them a reasonable value, ride, traction and cost/benefit-wise.
Sooo, what have readers here done? What, brand and model/style has given the most drivers the greatest satisfaction, all-around comfort level and value.
Anticipate solid guidance; only sharp, bright and sharing people drive a car, like the CL. Current writer excepted, of course....
Thanks.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I've been very happy with my recently installed Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 (current evolution of the DWS) on my 2012 E550 coupe. I've seen reviews where the road noise has been significantly reduced in the DWS06 from the DWS. Definitely one of the better ultra performance all season tires available and better than the stock Pirelli tires they replaced.

On the CL ( face lifted cars) they only came with Sport Conti 2 with the 20" wheels and the Continental Contact for the 19 and smaller wheels. I personally would if your going to replace your tires with all season for you AWD car put Continental's back on your car. If the tires were the DWS Continental's, then they been previously been replaced. Mercedes tires have a MO stamped on the sidewall of their tires as Bentley has the B stamped on theirs. I bought a 550 in April as well for a second car but my friend loved it so much he took it. It has one brand new factory OEM tire with 200 miles and 3 with 9/32nds on the others. In about 3 hours we are putting on the optional factory 20" wheels and he wants to sell the all season tires if your interested. PM me if you are. I can make you a deal of a lifetime for MB original factory tires that are in excellent condition and will last you a very long time and give you the ride that the car and quiet you are looking for
I was just re-reading your post and you moved up to the 20" wheels and those were not all season tires originally. If you want an all season tire go with the Continental Contact anyway as they have a much longer tread life and are very quiet.
