Phone contact list

2012 CL550. I de-authorized my Samsung Note 4. Pairing the Note 5 went okay. One annoyance is contacts come up on Command search in a last name, first name format. If I think of looking for John Smith, my mind thinks look for "J", not "S". The '15's and up platforms offer a format option, as I drove a '16 S.

Anyone know how to get them to load and show first name first, as I have been accustomed? Cannot find anything in manual nor any formatting option in scrolling through "phone" on Command. Sales and service people at dlrshp. had no advice or answers.

Not mission critical, but if I am missing some tab or sub-tab somewhere, I'd appreciate guidance.

Thank you.

I load all my contact by first name only. That way I always get the correct information that I want. Since I know who all my contacts are, I keep them straight by first name only. If there are two people with the same name, I put an initial for the last name and I put each under the correct type of number for which it belongs to. Home in the Home number, Cell in the Cell number and Office in the Office number. This way it will always be correct. The voice command will then prompt you through the system, which never fails. Last names screw up the entire system, plus you never call out a person by last name.

Thanks for replying. The contact list in my Note 4 is alphabetized, naturally, A-Z, ergo Aaron Zastrow to Ziggy Anderson. The 1st letter of the 1st name is how it's sorted.

When imported, the COMMAND or whatever element, lists the contact A-Z order, but the name in the "A" is "Anderson, Ziggy", when, imo, it should be "Aaron Zastrow".

The format being exported is how it should be. Where does the COMMAND or whatever trigger the phone's format to change to last name, first name? When pairing, the only input I can provide is hitting OK on my phone where it shows something like MB wants to download your contacts Cancel OK

Not a huge deal, but kinda dumb and if scrolling vs. pronouncing, I have to remember to look in the "Z" area to call my friend "Aaron". Am I missing something when importing or is there somewhere where I can choose the format/name layout?

Thanks.

No, that is how the German's format their systems. You have to either change it like I have or live without using your voice command. Who thinks of calling out a persons last name??? Something I just worked around.

My 221 S accepted and listed first name last name. I drove a'16 S for a couple wks. (nice "loaner") recently and it allowed format choice/manipulation.

A grudging Teutonic concession to logic.

I'll just work around the dumbness, I guess.

Thanks for caring.
