Getting a new front rotors, pads and read pads. Dealers quoted $2,600 for the job and the car has 27k miles. Anyone get breaks done in their 63's? Did you replace the rotors?

Am curious why the car needs new brakes at only 27k miles.

I have about 18k miles on mine. Would rather not have to expect to replace them at 27k miles.

Do you have the 030 package? Doesn't that package come with larger brakes= more money?

Car is not an 030 but the 030 package does not offer any break enhancement. This is the first break job on the car, but $2,600 seems a bit high. The front rotors are $1k each.

Car is mostly driven in the city.. lots of stop and go that can be the reason as well..

Sounds high for brakes and front rotors. Try a local shop, don't need a AMG Tech for a brake job.

If you feel its to costly shop around.. but going price for the rotors is about 1k apiece.
Its a 2-piece style rotor .. But as for the wear at 27k ive seen them wear out at 16k!!!!!
im serious. Its a high performance braking system they werent going for wear when designing it. At my dealer we are a AMG specialized dealer so i see about 3-4 CL/S 63s
a day and they eat breaks up. Try a good euro shop in the area but 2600 for front pads/rotor and rear pads is the norm from a dealer... 1k for each rotor = 2000
front pads have to be 200-300 and the rears are about 100 so they are charging
about 200-300 labor then tax it makes senses..

If you go to a indy just find one that has a good rep... and expect to pay over 2k maybe more there

As others have said, the 2-piece front rotors are about $950/each and the pads are about $250.

The only way to get Brembo rotors for the MB AMGs is from the dealer. Brembo does not sell these applications to independents. Pay the xtra $$ and get the best rotors-Brembos. Don't settle on aftermarket, no matter how pretty the slotts and holes look. They are not the same metalurgy.

The pads may be another story. If you like keeping your rims clean, go for a low dust pad. I have good success with EBC Red Pad. I don't know if available for AMGs or even the 030s. They are great low dust ceramic/kevlar compound for my S Type R Jag.

Also, while getting a brake job pay the xtra $$ and get a brake fluid flush for the front and rears. Just keeps everything working top notch.

why would you quote me for that reply... i just suggested the op to shop around for a diffrent dealer and he will find that the brakes on that car are pricey where ever you go.

and i never suggested aftermarket....

Sounds like average mileage, and typical pricing to me. It IS for a $100,000+ car afterall, why would you expect the brake job to cost any less?

The CL63 doesn't have multipiece rotors does it?

Doesn't it have the floating dual caliper system?

Heavy car, big stopping power means more frequent brake jobs. Have you ever replaced the pads?

You missed the point.

Any place other than an MB dealership including your suggested euro place will use aftermarket rotors and pads. Not so good for our expensive racing brake system.

i disagree most or even all the indies that i am familiar with use factory parts... i think you missed my point i was saying that the discount you would see from a indy might not be as much as you would think because of the expensive price parts from the dealer...

if you are familar with the dealer you might be able to get 10% or something...

2pc front rotor, 1pc rear rotor, coming from a dealer I think that is a pretty fair price.

However from an indy shop, you can have it done for a few dollars less.

Took care of it at the dealer.. Hopefully wont need to replace the rear rotors anytime soon. I guess thats the price to pay to drive these cars

OEM are horrible & incredibly expensive, go with Racing Brake.
