Flash file system damaged error

Does any know what the below errors mean?

"Flash file system damaged -
will be formatted now
Please don't switch off"

I just got this error on the navigation screen this afternoon. Thanks in advance for any insight.

BTW, it's 2005 CL55

Had the exact errors on my 2005 CL65. The Comand unit needs an update. Your Mercedes dealership can do it. They did mine and didn't charge me a penny.

No kidding! The error message is very misleading based on what you said. Thanks a ton. I guess I could drive it for few more days to see if it comes back before I hit the dealer.

What got me was, I got three error messages at EXACTLY same time. This error and the "Active Body Control Visit Shop" and "Add 1 liter of oil at the next filling station" ... I've not started the car after I went home yesterday. I will start it tomorrow and see if the errors come back.

Thanks again for the insight.

It will come back. I thought the same thing but after a month of it happening every couple of days, having to adjust the time everytime once it happens, I had it updated.

they are specialized on those problems. You better not try to update software anymore by update-cd. check the kink below:

MB S500 4Matic
I know this thread goes back a ways but I have the same error message showing up. I was wondering if anyone actually got the disk and did the updates and had success. Please let me know. The dealer say that I need to replace the whole unit to the tune of around 6,000 dollars.
