Brake fluid absorbs water from the air and this deteriorates the brake system components. It happens regardless of use of the car. So it is considered prudent to replace the brake fluid in a car every 2 years to prevent corrosion of the expensive Master Cylinder as well as corrosion in the caliper cylinders and brake lines. Hope this helps.

thanks for the input. i have heard this and i guess i can attribute my lack of problems in the past with this as either luck or a dry environment in my garage. maybe some of both.
