Old CL65 getting expensive

I blew an ABC hose the other day. Took the car in to get it replaced, also to do an A service. My car is a 2005 with 63K miles. I also had the drivers side door handle lock button quit working.

Anyway the ABC hose replacement was abour $1000, the lock fix is $600. They are also replacing the engine belt(don't know the cost on this yet) and I have a bad motor mount. I was quoted $4000 to replace the mount as the motor has to be removed. I'm friends with my mechanic and he said I could wait on the mount until it gets worse.

I still love this car and it still looks like new so I will pay the price. At some point I may have to trade for a newer car(maybe a 63). I also have a 2012 E550 I could drive but I always drive the CL65 even though its old.

If you have an indy shop around the area you should go there, book time for engine mounts is about 20 hrs. But if I remember right S and CL V12s don't need to drop there engine, theres a DIY thread on the S65 forum (I think the OP is richvegas) you can manage to get the mounts in without dropping the engine. Only V12s out of luck for this option is the SL.

But if this method cuts down on a lot of time then, you can def save a lot of money

if you have the updated style engine mounts then it doesnot take that long.

I will talk to my mechanic about the engine mounts. Thanks for the advice.
I have a Mercedes mechanic that will work out of his house. He doesn't have a lift installed but will do jobs that don't require the lift.

I just found out that I will need new brakes front and rear(said I have 5percent left before the light will come on). Also need a new battery soon.

I will have to buy pads and rotors soon. I checked the parts.com site and it looks like the front rotors are $740 each and the rears are $900 each. I thought the rears would be cheaper.

also use oediscountparts.com for parts. Free shipping (although not necessarily on heavy items like brake rotors).

sometimes I feel the same way about my car, but then i realize to find something to replace it with the same quality if materials, performance, luxury, etc, and you'll be paying at least $30k more and doesn't guarantee it will be any better.

That buys a lot of repairs.

Just curious how you guys are finding CL65 brake parts on Parts.com. When I try to look up 2005-6 CL65 it is not on the model list there. I see CL's up to 600 and SL65's, but not CL65's.

I found them using the part numbers. I found the part numbers by doing a search on this forum.

I think the rear rotor price must be a mistake also. I will probably wait until the light comes on before I buy new rotors. I have an E550 I can drive while the CL is getting work.

Quadcammer, I agree that it is worth spending the money to repair this car. My 2012 E550 is an extra car we have. I could drive it all the time but I like the old CL much better.

Here are the numbers I copied in another thread. You may have to drop the A.

215.379 (CL65 05-06)
A0034200983 front left
A0034201083 front right
A0034201183 rear left
A0034201283 rear right

215.376 (CL600 03-06)
A0024209583 front left
A0024209683 front right
A0024205383 rear left
A0024205483 rear right

215.374 (CL55 03-06)
A0034203183 front left (supercedes A0024209783)
A0034203283 front right (supercedes A0024209883)
A0024205583 rear left
A0024205683 rear right

cl65 uses 390mm x 36 rotors, cl55 uses 380mm x ?? rotors, cl600/500 uses 360mm?? or maybe it was 345mm
