Air Intake Tubes

When I had the E63, I removed the plastic flap covering the air intake tube going to the air boxes in an attempt to force more air into them.

Will this make a difference on the V12TT? I realize that the plastic in front of the air intake tubes also help to keep out water, debris etc. but will running without it cause any harm to the engine?

not it wont harm the engine because you still have filters in the intake tract

Took mine off since one was just flopping around due to missing retaining pin anyway. I knew they would get in the way of my origonal CAI plans so just left them off. I have driven in some heavy rain since with no problem. The only time I drove the car on the freeway in a serious blizzard they were still in place though and that is the only time I think they might be better to have than not.
