Finally going to go bigger turbos on my CL65
I have wanted to go bigger turbos for a while but have just been finishing up 2 other cars that I own so now that these 2 cars are done its ready to get this thing going. I been kinda watching the problems that Speeddriven has had and it seems like mostly trans problems so that seems like an easily fix problem. I see they made log style manifold and I am going to try something different. I ordered some manifolds from a 2002 CL600. These are non turbo manifolds. They come as 4 three cylinder manifolds. My idea was to run twin scroll GTX3076's or GTX3582's. My main goals are keeping as much tq as stockers had with as early spool as stockers. I would just make a y pipe from the 2 manifold to the turbo. I like the idea of running the stock manifolds because they will retain a lot more heat then even schedule 40 tubing with retain. Im not sure how I am going to fit 4 wastegates but we will see how things look as I will pull the motor soon. Right now I am just logging the tune I have now and in a week or so I am going to get it running on E85 with bigger injectors. Once I got my fuel system all dialed in I will change the turbos over. Hopefully all goes well!

And to the OP, I'm truly not trying to be the downer here but with multiple first hand experiences on these engines and space available your idea isn't going to be plausible. Your going to have to build a manifold that will nearly mimic Speedrivens if you even want to have a shot at this working out.
The area you have available to fit what your talking about doesn't exist. There's undeniably a reason why I know more then a few people over the past decade that have pulled there motors and tried to make this come to fruition "myself included". It's doable but not with standard housing turbo flanges and definitely not with externally gated turbo let alone 4 waste gates.
Now if you want to go top mount you have a lot more freedom but then every aspect of stock appearance is gone plus then the need to reroute lots of other items.
Basically what I've come to find out is this project is not easily completed. And without using specially built/ordered turbos with the certain flanges/ internal gates / and cooling your likely going to hit the wall so to speak. And even with all those components its still going to take some trail and error. But if I was half as good of a fabricator as I wished I was id be doing it honestly.

We have been all talking about this at the shop and we do agree there isnt much room but I think if we mount the turbos far enough back there will be enough room. I have also been thinking about scrapping the garret idea and going with Precision 6262's as they are a ton smaller or even the smaller internal wastegated turbos from precision. I will let ya know more as we progress. I just dont think any more can be had from the stock turbos because the hotside is just not able to flow anything more.

Yeah I remember making a mold of the spacing on either side of the engine to strut towers, sub frame, motor mount bracket, and steering shaft and I kid you not there's only about a 1/2 max to go vertically and horizontally and that leaves no margin for engine torque which would put the turbos into the body.
At the time and currently I still believe if you make a custom fab'd metal motor mount bracket frame work you can add so much needed but will still need quite a bit more to work with.
The reason my project hit the wall was Tial at the time was the only manufacturer I could find who had an internally gated turbo with the flanges and setup I wanted to use but were literally not doing a production run until an order of 15+ were made at $3500 each. You can make it happen that I know but it will undoubtedly take a 100% custom log style manifold and an internally gated turbo, period. IMO
And there's 0 denying the stock manifolds are no good for making anymore power then a tune can provide. The hot side is choked up even with a bigger hot side on the factory units milled into the manifolds. The drive pressure exceeds 2:1 closer to 3:1 even on tuned cars.

I'm not all too close (CT), but if you're interested in someone that's familiar with turbo systems to build you a proper setup, let me know. I would stay away from Precision, far away... You don't need schedule 40 tubing, not even schedule 10... and you certainly don't need 4 waste gates. If you'd like to talk, message me first 8608979983

look at the borg warner 7163 turbos. bov and internally wastegated to 35 psi capable of 1000 hp on e85. small compact and spool like krazy! its what i use on my porsche

Hell yeah! If anyone can pull through with some crazy turbo piping it's you. Is a rear mount turbo an option? If the m137 headers bolt right in, you could fab up some of those Technical Garage Sasaki equal length headers and mount turbos in the rear. A little more turbo lag vs way lower temps overall makes sense to me.

This is my Volvo. These manifolds are made of ****ty tubing and it flexes 1/4 inch if you press on it.
