CL55 AMG for 3600 it has 173,000 miles I did test drive it and it was smooth with no issues . it has the check engine light on. the ABC light is not on and it is functional. the ac is functional everything works . besides some cosmetic issues. What are your opinions ?

Must be tempting. People always say the most expensive Mercedes is a cheap one, and my experience of buying a high mile car does bear this out.

An expensive merc is no guarantee of reliability, but a cheap one is almost always a guarantee if problems. Yes, they can all be sorted out, but it WILL take a lot of time, effort and money.

you absolutely have to have the car checked out by a competent mercedes mechanic who can visually check everything and has a star diagnostic machine to check out the entire car and the cel. records of work performed are also extremely important so you can see what has and hasn't been fixed. also heed nicks advice and be very careful and picky.

The car still has the maintenance expense of a $100k+ car so be ready if something breaks. The good news is that you can fit some aftermarket coilovers once the ABC goes out and it will be a relatively cheap car to maintain.

PPI PPI PPI is worth its weight in gold!!
I would never assume that a car is good until it's looked at by a Mercedes or Indy who know what they are doing, the cost of it variesfrom shop to shop usually arond 125- 200 bills, Overall it would be the best money you've ever spent!

Get it checked out! As someone has already pointed out, there is nothing more expensive, than an inexpensive mercedes......my first mercedes. A 2002 cl55. I had this car 10yrs ago for about 2 years with zero issues. No wazu expensive 7spd to rebuild, no coil packs, plugs or v12/turbo issues to deal with or big brake replacement repair bills. You just have to be leary of abc issues.(maybe do coilover swap???) It was a great car for daily driving and 350hp was enough. I wish I would have kept mine. Ask for maintence records. At 175k, this car could cost double to fix than what you paid. $3500 if clean, clean title and looks and drives well sounds like a good buy
