HELP Mercedes CL-550 (W216) turns over but wont start
Can someone help me out. My car wont start. It turns over, cranks but wont start..
I replaced the spark plugs and fuel pump relay.
Still only starts sometimes.
Today I tried to start it and it continues to turn over.
I'm wondering if this could be the Crankshaft Position Sensor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, I would check for any stored fault codes. If codes are found, go from there. If no codes, then I would check to make sure the engine is getting fuel both volume and pressure. If fuel pressure is good, then check for spark at the plugs.

Ok thank you. I currently don't have a check engine light on. My friend says he's thinking it may be the fuel pump. But with these cars it could be anything.
I will update my progress.

Same Probelm, what did you find?
Your symptoms are exactly what my car is doing....what did you end up finding wrong with yours?
To date I have replaced the starter, crank position sensor, and batteries.
Thanks.

I have exact same issue. Car cranks, but doesn't start. I changed the CPS (Crankshaft hall sensor). I actually had a code B70 in Star diagnostics (DAS). It went of course away changing the sensor, but the erratic starting problem exists. Sometimes the car starts like it should, sometimes it doesn't do anything but cranks (also changed both batteries). Star diagnostics show no faults in system. I can see the fuel pump activate when cranking. EIS doesn't give any faults either, but I have learned that there can be an "cold soldering"-issue in the EIS module. My problems started when it was very cold weather in Finland (-25 degC). It can also start in very warm weather as the thermal expansions can brake the bad soldering and then the issues start. Remedies to my understanding are to replace the module (around +1000 USD) or take it out for handy soldering guy to fix. I am looking for the 2nd option. I will report if any Success... so far have to use my 2nd car to drive around as the CL is not relaiable option... :-(
