Test-Drove CL65

I was out doing business in the Matiland area earlier today and while I was there I was craving a free coffee at the local MB Dealer =)

My regular salesman approached me and we chatted while my car was being washed. I said to him it would be nice to drive one of those CL65's. I don't plan on buying such a car, but thought it'd be nice to drive one.

Took the car out for a 3 mile spin and let me tell you, this thing is just astonishing. Performance was great, and I was not affraid of tapping the gas pedal just a bit more.

But overall, I love my two 55's and the V8 sound! (Although the 65's sounded very nice as well!)

As I came back, I also saw (for the first time) a SLR! I took a couple shots and will share them as soon as I get them developed and scanned!

Applause to the 65 owners, what a great machine!

Did it seem faster than your 55's?

It was a rush to drive. The 740 ft torque were noticable... and incredible.

How is the throttle respose? Turbo Lag? I hate turbo lag. I had an MR2 Turbo before. Just hate waiting for the response. I also drove a Mits Elipse Turbo for a week, and that lag killed me too.
I actually think the E55 has a bit of a lag with the supercharger, but not to bad.

I just wondering if I should put money down on an 65 or wait to the new 65 comes out in 2 years with a possbile 700hp. With 700 hp, I don't think the lag would be that bad.

If you don't need the additional seats in the back get the SL65.

Lag is minimal and the power is addicting!

Honestly, I have been tempted to purchase a SL65! My only problem is that only a couple years ago, when the new SL came out, the SL55 was daddy of all. Up to this day it is my favorite car (and most expensive in my garage). Before ordering a SLK55, I have thought about upgrading to a SL65, but thought it would be nice to get a SLK55.

But I'm not saying I will not own a SL65 one day, give me some time and soon I will own a SL65 too

And then Schiznick, we'll ride around Atlanta and Orlando together... just to be fair

Enjoy your SL65! I envy you!

The car, as I remember, had only about 50 miles on it. I didn't push the throttle all the way down. I just wanted to be cool and be able to say I drove a 65

I was thinking about getting an CLS65, but the thought of spending that much money, I want that car to be the fastest thing out there(stock). But, I don't want to be getting a 65 and have it be replaced in 1 year with a 700hp version of the 65. So, if I plant that much money, it better be the fastest thing out there for at least 3 years. The SL is so sexy, but I got a family and a need to take customers in my back seat. That is why my E55 is pretty perfect right now. But 700+lbs of torque just sounds so awsome.
