Faulty Starter?
Hi,
I have a 2000 mod a140 (W168), that sometimes wont start. The car has done 125 000 km.
This does not happen very often, but when it does I can hear the starter spin freely, but it wont engage the engine.
If I turn the ignition off and try it again it starts.
This first happened this summer, when the car had not been used for a couple of months.
At that time i had to try several times to make it start.
Like I said this does not happen very often now, but I am afraid that one day it wont start at all.
I guess I will have to change the starter motor, but since that is a horrible job on this car I just wondered if someone have some tips about what I could try before bying a new starter motor.
