CLK430 Rear Snow tires, what size ???
Hello,
My car: CLK430 Cabriolet, year 2000
Tire size, Front: 225/45ZR17
Tire size, Rear: 245/40ZR17
Note that the rear tire is larger than the front.
The dealer recommends that I put Michelin Alpin snow tires, size 225/45ZR17, on the rear of my car.
That is, he suggest that I use the tire size for the front on all four wheels or my car.
Question:
Noting that the stock tires are bigger in the rear than in the front, is it correct to use the same size Snow tire on all four wheels?
I am asking because the dealer has been wrong before, and I would like some verification before I spend my $.
Thanks,
Pancho

Your dealer is correct. M-B recommends 225/45R17 tires on all 4 wheels.
If you want max winter traction, buy yourself a second set of 7x16ET35 wheels and use 205/50R16 on all 4 wheels. They probably won't look as good, but it will save your AMG wheels from the winter elements. Of course, if you don't drive much in the snow, then stick with the 225/45R17s on the AMGs.
