2002 clk 430
Thanks, I will give it a shot. Is it possible for these covers to get cloudy from the inside?

I can't imagine that being the case, unless you have been driving around without the back covers on.

New CLK owner with hid ??s

Hey guys Im new to the club. I just got a clk430 for super cheap and its in great condition but I want to upgrade the lightning and I found some hids on Amazon and wanted your take on them. I put them on all my cars with great results and talk about durability. The pair I've had on my explorer has been going for 6 years strong. Any how I was going to equip h7s 6k hids for the low beam and h3 6k for the fog lights. Do I need anti flicker cancellers? None of my other cars needed them but this is my first European vehicle. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm going to be frequenting this site from now on.

Actually you won't notice much difference with the standard reflector lenses It just breaks up the light from the hid and can actually be worse than your halogens. Hid's are designed for clear or preferably projector lenses in order to Work properly. Also your fog lights should be h1 bulbs not h3. Personally I don't like the look of the halo style lights typically available for upgrade on clk's but they are relatively inexpensive. I chose to upgrade my factory lighting to the depo c63 style projector headlight upgrade. There is a Seller on eBay (fishcake) comes with 6k or 8k bulbs your choice pre wired and all bulbs installed. High's, parking lights, turn signals, everything. Back covers are already sealed with silicone. Saves a lot of time and money and the lighting is fantastic compared to factory. I can't even begin to explain the difference. The set runs about 400$ if I remember right which I know is a lot compared to your prospected 60$ hid ballast upgrade but you'll never regret upgrading your lights over bulbs. There's a forum for doing the headlights maybe takes 2-2.5 hours due to bumper removal but pretty simple. But regardless I don't think you will need the anti flicker. Just make sure whatever you decide is canbus so you don't get the light out notifications on the dash

Actually since he's driving a 430 his foglights are H3.

You should really get proper housings for HIDs instead of being the guy who blinds everyone with cheapie bulbs in a halogen housing, whether you get OEM or aftermarket projectors.
