CLK430 BULB SIZES?? ALSO H7 for the PARKING LIGHTS?

I know all CLK require H7 bulbs for the main headlights. And, H1 for the fog lights....

THEN............... what about the parking lights which is next to the main headlight?

According to www.sylvania.com, it seems like it also require H7... AM I RIGHT???

This is very simple question to answer... so someone please reply to this thread.

OK... here it is, front lighting arrangement:

CLK320:
Lowbeam = H7
Highbeam = H7
Foglight = H1

CLK 430/55:
Lowbeam = H7
Highbeam = H7
Foglight = H3

Standard setup....

Turn Signals = 1156
Parking lights = not a standard size. tuner shops that carry the brand 'Polarg', the model # is M17 (which is a blue painted bulb). Philips makes one that has blue dye glass (brighter than Polarg) but most shops don't carry. There are others, but they can be somewhat hard to find.

Re: CLK430 BULB SIZES?? ALSO H7 for the PARKING LIGHTS?

The high beam is an H7 but the parking light (city light) is a much smaller bulb. You can actually use the same colored or hyperwhite bulbs that are used in add on city lights, the only thing you have to do is grind off one of the tiny prongs at the base of the bulb. The Mercedes Bulbs are offset while aftermarket ones are directly across from one another.

The fog light is only H1 if you have a 320. 430's use H3

Hope this helps

It would be Phillips Blue Vision, but they aren't as bright as the Vision Plus bulbs.

Speaking of...mmgrad..do you know if I can change out my smaller headlight bulbs to have more of the xenon look. My regular lights are factory xenon but the two smaller inside lights are yellow in color compared to their larger brothers next to them.

Thanks

well, Polarg M17s are the most commonly available bulbs, but, they aren't the best stuff outt here... not very bright, not very blue... but it does help to eliminate some of the yellow

led lights are nice, but, they are quite dim... much bluer than M17s... search the forum... i did a comparison of various bulb types for the driving lights...

I would say the PIAA Blue Spark 7500K bulbs. Those are the closest thing to xenon. Nothing comes close.

if you were talking about the two smaller lights on the front of the car - the ones that come on when the switch is one notch to the right - then on my car (98 clk320) they're H6W bulbs. the two smaller encasings (closest to the grille) have two bulbs inside of them: an H6W and an H7. they're the ones that stay on for a while along with the foglights when you lock the car at nights. the H7s inside of the smaller encasings are for the high beam - they come on in addition to the H7s in the outer, larger encasings.

im not sure if they changed any of this on the later models but i havent seen anyone here mention them in bulb upgrade posts...

I just bought a pair of polarg m17"s for my parking lights and your right there not that good, the lights seem to illumitate bluer when the parking lights are on when the lowbeams are not in use, once you turn on your headlights the blue color really fades and some of the yellow returns buy hey it still looks better than stock!

putting xenon's in the highbeam housing would make it way too bright to have on all the time...

but, you could have the highbeams in xenon...

you can give your little driving lights that XENON LOOK by using bluer bulbs...

Cool

Hey Danny,
Whats up man... I know what I'm about to ask has been beatn' to death already... but you seem to be the man when it comes to light bulbs. I have a question.... can I get the H7 bulbs even if I already have xenon from factory? I don't want to spend money if it's not going to do anything... or even worse... give me a problem. I want a bulb that is brighter. I bought the M17 bulbs... honestly... I don't see a big difference. It's almost the same. I was looking at the H7 bulbs on ebay. Check it out

Let me know what you think man

OOhhh thanks about the bumper homie.... Saved me some trouble... just keep an eye out.

Ok, bro.... if you have Xenon in your car, that means, you lowbeams are D2R bulbs (HID bulbs come typically in D2R or D2S depending on the type of headlight assembly you use).

H7 is just the size/type of bulb, and that is found on HALOGEN lowbeams, and on all our highbeams.

If you want H7s for your highbeams, sure, go ahead and get it if you use your highbeam a lot... but, there is no reason to change your factory HID/Xenon lights to H7... the effects would be a dimmer light... but, if you do want to change it, i'll trade you H7s for your factory Xenons

If you are talking about changin the little bulb in the housing closest to the grill, those are not H7s... those are driving lights, and they only come typically in a 6W configuration...

for those, use M17s from Polarg, or get some LEDs.... i think ther are some bulbs from Hoen (sp), but they are like $30, and no one can attest to their color/quality....

The city lights actually use a bulb that is referenced as being a bax9s. That is the size for the city lights. If you get LED's I highly recommend that you put in 2smd bulbs that have the flat chip. The round 5smd and greater bulbs barely fit and are very difficult and easily damaged due to pressure when removing or installing. And the 2smd bulbs very typically come with canbus=resistor chip/error free free installed.
