Its not pretty. This happened to me last summer. Search the forum for some postings on this. The only way (short of purchasing a new key and waiting for it to arrive) is first to get into the car, you have to open the interior door handle (a professional pop a lock service can do this). The interior buttons WILL NOT unlock the doors, or pop the trunk without the key in the ignition. Next (with the car alarm going off) you have to pop out the first aid kit box on the rear shelf, there is a small square opening you can fit a coat hnager through (not a hand though). Next, use a coat hanger or some other instrument to drag along the trunk floor hoping to catch your key chain. This took me about 15-20 minutes before I hooked them....

Never ran into the situation with my CLK, but supposurlly you can get into the car you can either do like chem above (+1) or I remember doing this on my old accura, by jumping the hot wire directly to the trunk release fuse you have the power that directly to the trunk with out turning the ignition on. I am not quire remember if the fuse for trunk release in front or rear of the car. If it’s in front then you can try this. If it’s in the trunk then I think you can try to open the cover where the trunk release button located and jump the hot positive wire direct to the switch. This case your switch has power without turning the ignition on.
There is a tool (I don’t know what it called) look like a screw driver that has a button on it to check for electric shortage and to feed the power if needed by pressing the button that every auto shop has. If you have this tool, it’s much easier to work on feeding the power to where you want to. I think you can get this in Kragen or any auto part shop
Good luck

Lock your car by pressing the lock button on your keyless so your car is locked
Press the release trunk button on the keyless so your trunk pops up
Place your key in the trunk and close it
That is how you do it I had 2 keys so I could get the other out of the trunk

Alternative solution - worked for me
If you can get into the car:
Pull padding on far left side of rear left seat forward, it is separate from the seat. There are 2 torx bolts at the bottom left.
Remove the two bolts with torx wrench or small vice-grips; slide the bracket to the right off the small pin, and pull seat slightly forward from bottom left, just enough to slide your arm in. Don't pull too hard on the seat.
Reach into trunk and up with your left hand; there is a cable to release the rear seat; pull the cable and the seat will release. You can then reach into the trunk and get your keys.

i always keep one side of my seats open. (the red marker on top is up) so just pull it down.. & no one knows the seat is unlocked.. great for throwing things in the back real quick =]
