Urgent : How to reset convertible top
Hi all, new the the forums but have been searching and seaching.
Trying to sell my 1999 CLK 320 Convertible. Interested person came to see the car. I tried to tell him how to operate the top and he quickly brushed me off as "knowing how to do it". Well........he didn't. After the top started the guy started pushing on the top and now it is jammed. I'm NOT happy and now have a car that I can't get the top up on.
I'm guessing it came out of time/sequence. Is there a reset procedure I can try?
Thanks!

There are alot of sensors on the top, so it can be many things.
First things first, pop the trunk, make sure the luggage cover is snapped into place (there is a switch that needs to be depressed in there).
What does the top do when you unlatch it, or is it stuck midway position? Fuses are in trunk for the hydralic pump by spare tire...

I had seen someplace that you had posted a video on how to reset the convertible top on a clk 350 top. I have just purchased a 2008 clk350 convertible and the second day of ownership the top will not go down. It is in the full up position and the windows function fine. When I go to lower to lower the top it says the latch in the trunk is open. I have moved the piece from open to closed and still same problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Given that he didn't break anything (e.g. tensioning cables), you can try what the owners manual suggests.
If the power top is in a partially open position, caused by a electrical malfunction, it must be resynchronized.
To do so, raise and lock the soft top manually, the procedure on how to do this is also explained in the owners manual.
