CLK55 AMG
If my memory serves me correctly I do believe it was 2.25 dual to the resonator, then 2.75 single after the resonator.

AMG
If you are talking about V8s that is correct, its 2.25" duals with 2.75" single after that. On the AMGs it then goes back to dual in the muffler and comes out as dual tips.

If you are going to do a free flow exhaust (I am assuming on CLk430 since you did not list what type of vehicle you have). I would go with a 2.5" 14" long universal with a set of dual tips, that will give you best quality sound, Don't get the all-in-one magnaflow mufflers its just not enough muffling capacity and it will sound too loud.

Now if you want to do a proper exhaust upgrade. The best thing to do is to cut out most of the stup system and go straight from dual 2.25" to single 3.0" all the way back for maximum flow (this includes free flowing cats, resonator and muffler).

hope that helps.

AMG
yes its 2.75" typically on AMGs. If you really wanted to you can go 3.0" just be warned a 3.0" setup drones alot more. A 2.5" 100% free flowing well design exhaust system can outflow a restricted 2.75" setup so remember bigger is not always better, depends on what route you want to take.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 2.5" allow the perfect ratio of flow/pressure? Mercedes' are already made and sold with the H.P. parts that most other manufacturers deem as 'Upgrades', aren't they? Thats why performance parts are so expensive, and why you probably shouldn't deviate too far from the original engineering of the machine. Besides; Once you start making your car 'unnecessarily' loud, you start losing Mercedes-Owner cool points.

Nothing more annoying than hearing you for blocks after youve left because youre putting out way more sound than power.
