I have a 2002 CLK 430. When attempting to fold down the driver's seat to let a passenger in the back seat by operating the lever, it will not fold down 95% of the time. I took it to an MB dealer in the local area. After adjusting the cables, trying to synchronize the seat motors, performing a short test that found the code for fore/aft motor hall sensor malfunctioning, and when operating for a period of time the adjustment quit working, they determined that the drivers seat frame adjuster with motor be replaced at a cost of $1375.00. I found this cost to be ludicrous for a seat motor and declined replacement. Can't believe that a seat motor that costs this much is not more reliable. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

motor will cost you about $100...put it in yourself..many threads on this.

With an MBCA membership discount, the fore/aft motor (part number 2088200842) is $97. Regular list is $122. The entire tract assembly (PN 2089102636), with both motors, is $580 with the discount, and $770 without. If the control unit (2088200526) is fried, those are $500 retail, and $370 with the discount. Usually, all that's needed is the $97 motor. A dealer WILL NOT simply replace the motor. Even under warranty, they replace the entire track assembly. That usually ensures the customer doesn't come back because the other motor is toast.
