CLK320 electrical issue?

2002 CLK320, 31K on the car, wife's vehicle. Very intermitent start / electrical related problem --- Vehicle has had very few issues since new. Every so often (I've drove it lately to "recreate" the problem) when you turn the key: All the "usual" lights appear on the dash, everything looks normal, but will not turn over. You jack with the "key" a few times and it will eventually start. I'm thinking battery, as it is the origninal and I realize I'm on borrowed time? Sound reasonable?? Thanks .......
