Extended Warranty Q?

Hi everyone,

My question is this..........I have a 99 clk430 and I purchased an extended warranty from MB dealer in December. Extended warranty cover the same as the original warranty, but better with free oil change every 5000 mi. Okay here is the issue, today I took my car to the MB dealer in San Diego to get my dashboard replace b/c there is a crack line in b/w the seam of the airbag. You know those typical cracks we all have around the airbag when heat beated on so much. Well, this service guy said my warranty will not cover it, b/c the coverage is not the same as the orginal warranty. I was like what the @#$%! Well he said he'll call this company up to check up. I was like what! I bought this warranty from your company (MB dealer) and your personel who told me my extended warranty is the same as the original. Anyway...........if this idiot call me back and say my extended warranty won't cover this what should I say to this guy? Thanks guys.

Did you purchase Mercedes Starmark warranty? Because the Starkmark warranty is the same as the original warranty but no coverage for audio, phone and navigation. You can only purchase Starmark within 1 year from the purchase date of your new car or when you buy a certified Starmark preowned car. If it is from other company, it maybe questionable. Which company is it?

Well, technically they are different. The extended warranty covers more of the mechanical pieces. The don't cover some electrical (stereo, comand, etc...), and definitely not cosmetic.

The dash... i'm not sure if that falls under cosmetic. If the dealer says no, take it to another dealer.

By the way, are you sure the extended warranty covers scheduled maintenance such as oil changes? I swear that is not covered in my MB extended warranty.

Same Problem

I just bought a 99 320 and it has only about a week of warrenty left....

When I brought the car home I noticed the crack in the dash and they told me the extended warrenty would not cover it!

I was also very surprised but they clamed it was cosmetic.

Good luck!

Russ

You know............sometime some MB dealers just want to make more money from us consumer by bull****ing about extended warranty don't cover this and that, especially cosmetic problems. I took my car to another dealer and they said they will replace it with no cost under warranty. Just b/c we own a Mercedes Benz they think we have a lot of walla, walla, walla, to give out.

I have a small crack as well in the seam of the passenger side air bag. People have told me that it probably not worth fixing it because when they remove the entire dash and put it back in, it will never be like the orginal installation. That means you'll get sweaks and noises like that. So just beware. I dont think its worth getting fixed.
